Inspire 3 Fitbit bricked during an update, can't sync, screen unresponsive

Don't just tell me "try plugging it in and restarting it". I have. And it doesn't even give me the logo, half the time it vibrates but nothing even shows, and sometimes it's just a thin line of pixels on the screen that light up. So I need a bit more assistance than have I tried turning it off and on again, especially if this is an apparently common issue with this thing.

I literally just bought this thing. It didn't even last a day. This happened while I was trying to update the thing via the app. Looked like everything was going well then suddenly the app said it failed, and now the Fitbit is as above. What gives?
