Inspire 3 Screen Black, but buttons work

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Yesterday, my screen glitched and the home clock and another screen (like alarms) was superimposed on top. When I tapped it, it went through steps, calories, etc., but I couldn't swipe, and it wouldn't turn off. The logo appeared and it looked like it was updating or something. It did this twice and then has been black ever since. The buttons buzz, the green light on the back is on, and stats are syncing to the app, but it's still black. It's at 10% right now and I figure I'll just let it die and see if it'll reset or something? I can't think of anything that may have caused this. Anyone else have this happen to them?

Hi there @Snowhorse129! It's great to see you here in the Fitbit Community!

Thank you for letting us know that your Inspire 3 has a black screen and for all your efforts.

I suggest you try to restart your tracker with the charging cable this way:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable.
  2. Press and hold the buttons on your tracker for 10 seconds.
  3. Release the buttons. The tracker has restarted when it vibrates and the Fitbit logo shows up.

Afterwards, you can try to change the clock face and sync your Fitbit device with the Fitbit app.

Hello. I have the similar issue right now. After changing clock face the display went black with the side buttons vibrating and the green light active. After trying to restart multiple times - no success.

Can you please suggest? Thank you.

Mine fixed! I let it die and then charged it to 100%, everything seems to be back to normal. Any suggestions to hold the buttons for a certain time, plug it in and do stuff didn't work.

There is no way to restart the Inspire 3 using hardware (buttons, etc.) so allowing the battery to completely drain and then charging it back up again is the only option left to reset the device if the screen isn't working.

Actually, that isn't true, so why didn't putting the device on the charger and pressing the buttons for 10 seconds restart the device and resolve the screen issue?

Did you have to set the Inspire 3 back up again (Factory Reset), or did it just power up and start working again with no issues (Restart)?

Mine at least was completely unresponsive no matter what I did or how long I held the buttons. Recharging it made it as it would be after any typical charge. All my stats are still there.

If that's the case, then is appears that the 2-button press for Restart while on the charger is nothing more than another form of 'soft' restart, which won't work if the device firmware stops working.

That's too bad, but at least a 'hard' restart worked by completely discharging the battery and then recharging it again.
