Inspire 3 always records 2 sleep sessions at the same time.

Before going to sleep I always start a sleep session on the Fitbit app, and maybe 2 months ago I noticed in the mornings that my sleep sessions weren't recording all the details, just the basic "awake", "restless", and "asleep" bars. And it always underestimated my sleeping time.

If I deleted my sleep session, then manually added the sleep period, it would somehow magically find all the details and my full sleeping time.

A few weeks ago though, my Fitbit started recording TWO sessions at the same time, so it would show me I slept 10 hours in a 7 hour period. It hasn't stopped doing this, and every morning I have to delete the extra sleep session.

I can't see that anyone else had reported this issue. I'm not sure what to do to stop this happening.

You should not "start a sleep session on the Fitbit app".  Just let your tracker figure out by itself when you are sleeping.  The only reason to ever use that start a sleep session now would be if you were going to take a nap of less than an hour and want credit for that sleep. Fitbit should self-detect any sleep of at least an hour, though it takes at least 3 hours sleep stages and score.

'Start sleep now' is basically left over from before trackers had heart rate detection which allows sleep detection, as far as I can tell.

You say this as if it's common knowledge. This is the first smart watch I've ever owned, and until recently, I had to click "start sleep session" for it to pick up normal overnight sleep. If I didn't, there just wouldn't be a sleep session recorded in the morning.

Thanks anyway for enlightening me to this knowledge. Maybe I have a slightly buggy watch but a recent update kicked it into working properly in terms of picking up sleep sessions on its own.

I didn't necessarily mean it to sound as if all common knowledge.  I am definitely not a fitbit employee but have been using fitbits for about 10 years and have been picking up things by reading help sections and scanning these forums.  Some of this info I got from the 'Help' section before it was rewritten, that I cannot find in there now.  And also Fitbit is definitely ideal at communicating some of this info, in my opinion.  So I just try to share a little of what I have learned.
