Inspire 3 and Family Link for 14 year old

My daughter used her own money to buy an Inspire 3 and now I can't get it added on her phone. Ace is the only option that comes up. Based on other threads I have read, this shouldn't be a problem since she's over the age of 13. What is the work around?

Hello @Liz2024 and welcome to the Community.  I must start by saying that I don’t have personal experience with this, just information from other users.  Family Link is the issue here.  I think some parents removed their child from Family Link, set up the Fitbit, waited a day or two, then put their child back on Family Link.

I hope someone else will chime in with personal experience.  I also moved your post to the Inspire 3 forum, a better fit for this issue.

I have the same issue with my 14 year old. I don't want to lose my family link supervision capability...

It looks like Google wants us to delete the supervised accounts and start fresh but my son has photos, emails and years of Google profile activity that I don't want to delete.

The Google help pages describe obsolete directions on how to remove a child from family link.

Why hasn't Google fixed this issue yet?

No one reached out to me again. I ended up deleting Family Link from my daughters account and didn't realize that it would delete her entire gmail account. That is not a fitbit problem but a Family Link problem. It is very frustrating that fitbit and family link can't work together to support multiple devices.

I agree! My daughter lost all of her contacts, photos, etc... because I deleted Family Link before realizing that it deletes her email. She is all set back up and running and I no longer have the Family Link supervision so we supervise the old fashion way and look through her phone in the evening. I just set my second daughter up with Family Link as she just got her first phone and I am hoping Google has a better process when I get to that point with her.

Thank you for replying! That is awful and of course none of this is mentioned during the buying process for the inspire... I just thought, he's over 13 so we're good to go.

Google purchasing Fitbit should've made it easier to solve this issue. It's unacceptable. Now my son has a birthday gift that's been sitting in a box for a month.

Thanks again for sharing your experience.
