I took a walk today and noticed my steps going up way too fast on the app, like from 2,500 to 8,000 to over 14,000 within minutes. My watch is showing the correct number of steps while the app is showing 14K+. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I reset my watch. I've synced multiple times. And I ran the update. Is anyone else having this issue? Is there anything I can do to get my watch and app correctly synced?

It is now 9/26/24. They have issued 3 updates (Android) since your post. None. I repeat None of them have fixed the Step data inaccuracies & None have Added Back the ability for us to edit/correct inaccurate Sleep Data either.

Tap the Device icon in the upper left-hand corner of the App Today screen and check to see if your phone is in the Devices list. If it is, remove the phone from the Devices list and that should at least resolve the step-count issue.
Restart your Inspire 3 and phone after doing that, just to make sure that everything is reset properly afterwards.

Bill, The Android (Samsung) tablet I sync my Fitbit Inspire 3 to is in my devices list and has been sync'ing. But - since Aug. 2024 after the app rel. 4.x.x series started - the Fitbit app has been adding more steps than what my Inspire 3 is tracking and displaying. I am concerned about doing anything to remove that device pairing and trying to "start over" b/c Google has been pushing us to switch our Fitbit accts to Google accts. They have [blanked] up so much else with their developments - app, device firmware, etc. (I kick myself every day that I updated the awful app!) - I am more than hesitant to disconnect a device and then be told that to reconnect I must switch to a Google acct from my Fitbit acct b/c that's all that will be accepted.
Honestly, I'll just stop using Fitbit altogether before messing anything else up and still not having it work. (I know how Adobe tells ppl when they make their software buggy to "just reset the preferences" - rather than taking ownership for and fixing their bugs. Anytime anyone does that, they always write back in to say "that didn't help!" I highly expect that same situation with Fitbit and don't want to make matters worse b/c Google are clearly unresponsive, their Support people sound rude and incompetent (based on comments above) and it seems they can't code their way out of a paper bag (to use an old expression).
(Ditto, the Fitbit app - latest rel., on Android 14) displays a higher weight than what my Fitbit Aria scale measures and puts into the Fitbit app Log. So, within the app itself something in the code is making the weight higher in the Fitbit app Dashboard than what it is showing in the Fitbit app Log (which is typically accurate).

I understand your concern, @Fotomaker01 but, as I understand it, removing the phone as a Device essentially does nothing more than disable Fitbit's MobileTrack feature, which uses the accelerometer in the phone to count steps when the Inspire 3 device isn't being worn by the User.
A novel idea from Fitbit that Google managed to break with their recent device FW and App SW updates.

Yes, I’m also having the same issues. I’ve tried everything that you’ve mentioned above, including restarting the Fitbit on the watch still it is showing way too many steps and I only have done 5000 steps on the watch. It’s inspire 3. While on my mobile app, it’s showing that I’ve done 33,000 steps which is pretty crazy. How do I fix the issue?

Marre
I noticed people having these issues are writing from back in August of this year. It is now end of September 2024 and I’m still having these issues? What is going on?

Omggg… I just turned my phone off, iPhone 11 and I also turned off my inspire three by going to the settings and pressing restart!
I waited one minute and then I turned everything back on, bingo. All the issues are gone my phone and my watch are syncing properly and the steps are showing properly as what I’ve done to for today. Even my sleep was not showing from the previous nights, and now they are all showing on my mobile app

Is anyone else using Android devices for sync'ing having the same ops experiences besides NikiSunshine (who is using an iPhone)?

If your mobile is not included in the Devices list and your Inspire 3 was recently synced to the mobile before checking step count, then I have absolutely no idea what could cause the App step count to be 6X the device step count.
