Inspire 3 but it isn’t logging my steps on my treadmill.

I just bought the Inspire 3 but it isn’t logging my steps on my treadmill.

I tried just walking and… nothing. Then I went into the Fitbit and chose Treadmill and Start. After walking I synched to the app again but it still didn’t show my steps.
I hold onto the rails when walking so hopefully this isn’t the issue.
What am I doing wrong? Thank you.

@Gama0530 Your arm has to be swinging in a back and forth motion in order for it to pick up on your steps. All pedometers function this way. Treadmill is just the workout mode and a category for your workout.

I use a treadmill every day and have thousands of my steps counted every single morning. I use the "treadmill" activity on my watch and it works as long as you're swinging your arms.

@Gama0530 , A warm welcome to the Community ! Thank you for your message and information.

Actually you holding the rails while on the treadmill, may be causing that the steps do not get recognized.

Try walking on the treadmill, on a lower pace, a bit without the rails and verify if the steps get counted.

Hi… thank you for the welcome and the response!  I tried walking without holding on and it worked. But… what’s the point of choosing the treadmill option?  I tried it and it didn’t matter if I held on or not… my steps weren’t counted.  I feel bad because I have to hold on to the rails when I’m on a treadmill. Thanks again.

Thank you for the response. Not what I was hoping for though. Oh well.

@Gama0530 the Inspire 3 has the ability to operate in clip mode. You can put the device in a clip and carry it in a pocket or attach it to your clothing. That disables the heart rate function, but it's a way to get your steps to register without having to move your arm. I don't know if that is an option that you would consider.

I could definitely do that. Thank you!  The really weird part is, my brother has the Inspire 2 and it works on the treadmill for him. And he said he never lets go of the rails.  🤷‍:female_sign:

I wear mine on my ankle especially since I use a treadmill desk and am typing so no arm swinging. It works great.  They sell FitBit ankle bands on Amazon and Etsy. 😊

Nice! I’ll look for one. Thank you!

I also have a treadmill desk and wear my Fitbit on my ankle. On the slowest treadmill setting, my Fitbit doesn't register steps. If I turn up the speed a notch, it registers roughly 50% of the steps. If I turn up the speed again, then it starts registering too many steps, like 50% too many.

When I use "clip on body" mode, accuracy of steps is pretty good, except it still does not register any steps when at the slowest treadmill speed. It's a bummer that "clip on body" disables heart rate tracking (HR tracking otherwise works well on the ankle).

Would be nice if there was a "worn on ankle" setting that gave you accurate steps, had heart tracking, and worked with treadmills on slow speed.

Totally agree!! It just makes so much sense that wearing it on your ankle
should work perfectly.
Thank you for the response!
