Inspire 3 exercise shortcuts no longer supported

I called support this morning (Aug 22, 2024) and they confirmed that the exercise shortcut feature has been disabled, even though it has not been removed from the phone or desktop apps. I asked them to restore the feature or remove it from the app settings.

I work in information technology and I am sensitive to poor user experiences :-). I think it's disrespectful to the user to let them think they can do something when they cannot.

If you love this feature, I encourage you to call or connect with Fitbit and ask for a support ticket to be opened. Maybe as a community we can get the attention of Marketing or Engineering or whoever made the decision to disable this feature.

If that is true, then I'll be ditching my fitbit. I really don't want to be scrolling a list for 30+ activities searching for the ones that are relevant to me each time I use it. It's a pretty important feature. Even £20 cheap Chinese smartwatches have this feature.

How can I open a support ticket? I hate the cahnge they made to the shortcuts. Why do they force me to scroll through a list of 30 activities when everything worked perfectly fine before? Very sad what is happening to Fitbit since Google took over.

Option 0: (Fitbit made me remove the cwsupport@ email address and the 844 area code phone number per community policy)

Option 1: (Fitbit made me remove the direct URL link per community policy)

Search for Fitbit Customer Support using your favorite search engine; look for Contact Fitbit in the search results

Click Customer Support on the Contact Us page

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Contact Us; fill out basic information to get to Contact Options

Or option 2; skip the clear effort to not connect customers directly with Customer Service to speak with them to get support and just call them.

UPDATE: (Sep 26, 2024) It appears as though shortcuts are now based on most recently tracked exercises, at least as of 63.20001.210.26.

So the first time you track an exercise, you'll have to scroll through the list of 40-something exercises, but it should be added as a shortcut after that. There does not appear to be a way to select shortcuts manually, or to override recently tracked exercises. However, if you tend to track the same exercises (running, swimming, etc) then, in my opinion, there's really not much of a usability impact.

UPDATE: (Sep 11, 2024) After upgrading to 63.20001.210.26, I no longer see shortcuts. The shortcuts have been replaced by an arbitrary selection of routines and a "more" button which requires you to scroll through a list of 35 routines.

The shortcuts work perfectly fine for me (Sep 9, 2024 - version 63.20001.188.58)

If you are coming from an Inspire 2, then be aware that you can now swipe left and right! This is how you got to your exercise, timer, and other apps.

Looks like you are still running with a very old device FW version, @cyborgx37.

Try using the shortcuts again after 'upgrading' your device to the latest and greatest device FW version.  Many things, including shortcuts, will no longer work properly after doing that.

Great advice, but upgrading the firmware is what caused the problem.

You can choose not to manually update the FW when the red dot appears in the app to let you know that it is available for download, but I think that one of Moderators mentioned that the FW update is forced at some point in time to avoid compatibility issues with the app, so you will be enjoying this new FW update soon enough as well.
