I had several emails to and from the Fitbit team, they only refer to standard answers about wearing tight or lose, which is not the problem.
I had to tell them 3 times again that it is the firmware update that causes the problems, asked for a downgrade back to the previous FW, ....not possible.
Then I returned my 3 weeks old Inspire 3 to the shop, got a new one with the old firmware, everything is working fine.
The Fitbit team saw I connected a new device and advised me to update the firmware (!?!) to solve any problems!

@RG63 , the CS team only has a scripted list of things to say/try to resolve issues, so they are pretty useless most of the time, so reading through the forum posts is usually much better to help with resolving those issues.
That being said, many people have posted complaints about their HR measurements being way off since the FW update, so you are not alone, and that is reportedly due to the new, improved HR measurement algorithm that Google developed using their amazing Machine Learning capability.

I’ve seen the same things since I did the update last week. At least once a night my heart rate spikes to ridiculous levels for one to two minutes, then immediately drops back. I know if my heart rate was 190 I’d be having a medical emergency, and sure wouldn’t be sleeping through the event! Also breathing rate and heart rate variability have quit registering, I assume there is not a way to roll back to the previous firmware? I am glad to know that I’m not the only one having this problem, and therefore it’s not some weird medical situation

I track my morning runs with my Fitbit and upload the runs to Strava. Since the firmware update I can tell from the Heart Rate graph that the heart rate tracking is completely off.
Before the firmware update my Heart Rate graph would look like this:
You can tell how the heart rate (red) corresponds to the elevation (light gray) as I run. Beautiful!
Since the firmware update all my graphs now look like this:
It always ramps up to a certain point and then hovers there all the way to the end of my run! Also, my heart rate always used to average at around 130 bpm. Now it's always recording an average of 170 - 180 bpm!
The heart rate monitoring is useless now. This is total garbage!

Well, it appears that Google's Machine Learning capability that was reportedly used to develop the new HR measurement algorithm in the 210.26 FW update isn't as great as they said it was in the release note.

I have made multiple call with the support team and all they propose is to replace the device ! where everyone knows its clearly the problem with Software Update !

Unfortunately, the Google CS team is completely worthless for helping to resolve any issues, with the possible exception of sync problems.

Well, I have given up on this product. It is now worthless and I no longer wear it.
