Inspire 3 is tracking sleep data when I'm not wearing it

My Inspire 3 recorded 3 hours of sleep after I took it off and put it in its box. It was motionless for most of this time and there was a 15 minute drive. I manually adjusted the log to subtract 3 hours from when I thought I woke up, but is there anything else I can do?
I saw advice for another device to turn off the device when not wearing it, but from searching this forum that isn't possible with the Inspire 3.

I'm confused how this could even happen; wouldn't it know I wasn't wearing it based on not being able to record my HR, etc?

Hi, @igdydl , did you turn off heart rate detection?  You can do that in the settings menu on the Inspire 3 by swiping down from the clock screen and finding the heart rate setting.  Toggle the button to off.  As long as heart rate is turned on, whenever the Fitbit receives vibration (as it likely would from being in a car or in a drawer if someone walks near by), it will begin to try to detect a heart rate by switching on the lights - the light will then be reflected back from the surface it is on which could further heart rate detection.

If you are not wearing your Fitbit I would recommend turning off heart rate detection which hopefully will solve this issue.
