Inspire 3 is tracking steps even when I'm not moving

My fìtbit is counting steps when I'm doing nothing or just sleeping. I'm sitting here and it says I did 500 steps.

Hi there, @CrazyAshRed. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm sorry to hear that your Inspire 3 is tracking steps even when you're not moving. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

I was wondering if you're wearing your Inspire 3 while sleeping or you take it off? If you remove your Inspire 3 (or any other Fitbit device) and lay it face up on a reflective surface it may detect the flashing LED and produce "ghost" data, sometimes steps or HR. Try lying it face down (and on a non-reflective vibration-free surface).

Last but not least, keep in mind the algorithm is designed to look for intensity and motion patterns that are most indicative of people walking and running. When working at a desk, cooking, or performing other activities with arm movements, a device on your wrist may add some steps. When you’re doing activities that involve arm movement, such as working or cooking, you often walk a few steps in-between stationary periods as well, so the device tries to give you credit for those steps. For most customers, the number of extra steps added by arm-based movement isn’t significant when compared to your overall stats. For more information, see How accurate are Fitbit devices?
