Inspire 3 is tracking too many calories burned

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi there - I'm one week into my Inspire 3 and I'm not sure that it is accurately tracking calories burned. For example, I have been doing around 12k steps per day and only burning around 1300 calories in total for each day.

I have checked the amount of calories per walk and it's logging around 1 cal burned per minute of walking, and I am a fast walker. This does not seem right. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? Thanks!

Hi there, @hexhealio. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

Have you checked if your personal data has been entered correctly? Please note that your BMR is based on the physical data you entered in to your Fitbit account (height, weight, sex, and age) and accounts for at least half the calories you burn in a day.

Hi, @hexhealio welcome, an interesting question. I "Googled" the question & got the following from "Gemini" -

The number of calories you burn while walking depends on your weight, walking pace, and terrain:

  • Moderate paceThe average person burns 200–350 calories per hour walking at a moderate pace.

  • Walking speedThe number of calories you burn per mile depends on your walking speed:

    • 70 calories per mile at 2 miles per hour

    • 74 calories per mile at 2.8 miles per hour

    • 83 calories per mile at 3.5 miles per hour

    • 91 calories per mile at 4 miles per hour

  • WeightA person who weighs more burns more calories than a person who weighs less:

    • A 130 lb person burns 224 calories per hour walking at 3.5 miles per hour on a flat surface

    • A 155 lb person burns 267 calories per hour walking at 3.5 miles per hour on a flat surface

    • A 205 lb person burns 354 calories per hour walking at 3.5 miles per hour on a flat surface

  • TerrainWalking uphill burns more calories than walking on a flat surface.

  • GeneticsGenetics may also affect how many calories you burn.

To lose weight, you can try combining strength and endurance training to burn calories more effectively.

I'm a daily swimmer & expect to burn 7.5 to 8.5 calories a minute. I wear a Fitbit & another device, and both record a similar (but not identical) calorie burn.
I hope this helps.
Cheers
