I just got my Fitbit 3 Inspire and is counting 2 to 3 times the amount of steps that I'm actually taking per day. I reset it I've tried not moving my arms too much even when I'm sitting is counting steps. I have a step tracker on my phone and I cross checked it and the Fitbit is counting about 5,000 more steps per day and I'm actually taking I don't find this piece of equipment useful at all

Hi there, @Walker777. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Inspire 3 is tracking too many steps. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!
The step tracker you mentioned, is by any chance MobileTrack or any other step count? If so, please note that MobileTrack could be tracking those extra steps. To verify this, please in the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab > then tap Devices. In this section you'll see your Inspire 3 and below your phone (in case MobileTrack is indeed connected).
If the above describes your situation, you can remove MobileTrack by tapping on the phone's icon and then select "Remove From Account".
Nevertheless, to make sure that your Inspire 3 is accurately tracking your steps, confirm the following are correct in the Fitbit app:
Since we use height to estimate your walking and running stride lengths, you may want to measure and manually adjust these values if your legs are longer or shorter than average. For more information, see How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?
If you want to negate the extra steps, see How do I add, edit, or delete Fitbit data and activities?
On a side note, please make sure that your Fitbit device is updated.

This is incorrect. Devices is not shown on the Today tab. This is the same answer ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok gave but it's outdated information. In the top left corner is an icon that displays the battery life. Tapping on that opens up Devices where you can update the firmware. I noticed you also mention that the step tracker the original poster mentions is Mobile Track but I do not see Mobile Track mentioned in the original posters post that you are commenting on. By any chance, did you use AI to generate the response?
