Inspire 3 steps are getting doubled

My steps on the app show I’ve only walked half of what my Fitbit inspire 3 is showing as my total count. So it’s literally doubling my actual steps.

how do I fix this before I return this entirely?

Thank you for providing the information regarding your Inspire 3. 

Please let me know if you have seen a similar number of steps counted on your Inspire 3 in the last few days or on the last few walks and if this is the first time the problem has occurred.

I already sent screenshots to Google. This is a beand new device I started
using yesterday. Did everything I was told to try. Did the update. Nothing
has fixed this. Today i woke up to 980 steps.

I’m just going to return this.
