Inspire 3 tap to wake extremely inconsistent and frustrating

New Inspire 3.  Sometimes it wakes with a single tap.  Other times it takes between 10 and 15 taps to wake up.

My wife and I both have the Inspire 3 and the problem occurs on both.

You'd think by now this would have been resolved.
