Inspire 3 won't connect to Android or iOS after factory reset

Hi there,

I recently bought my mom a new Fitbit Inspire 3 and was able to connect it to her iphone and ipad originally, except that all calls she answered via Fitbit were going to her ipad. In trying to fix this, I seem to have gotten the Fitbit in a bad state or something. I've tried all the usual troubleshooting like disabling/re-enabling bluetooth, powering off and on all devices, re-install the Fitbit app; I even tried using my Android phone and am still unable to connect. Eventually I did the factory reset by clearing user data, and I still cant connect with Iphone or Android. The last thing I could think to try was using an older version of the app since I read that was a possible fix, so had installed Fitbit app 4.26.1 but even that wouldnt connect. After 2 hours of troubleshooting I'm out of ideas. Is this a similar issue where the problem is with the Fitbit app itself and I need to wait for an update? It seems the app issue I mentioned happened in September of this year, but the app is up to version 4.32 now so I wouldnt think that would be an issue still...Please help.

Hi there @RyGuy182! A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community!

Thank you for letting us know that the Inspire 3 from your mom won't connect to an Android phone nor an iOs and for all your efforts.

I suggest you try to follow this instructions step after step (the order is very important):

  1. Turn off Bluetooth on your phone; wait 10 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  2. Restart the Inspire 3.
  3. Turn your phone off and back on.
  4. Remove all other Fitbit devices from your Fitbit account. For instructions, see How do I set up my Fitbit device?
  5. Remove your Fitbit device from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your phone or tablet:
    1. On your phone, tap Settings > Bluetooth.
    2. Tap the information icon

      or gear icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
    3. Find the option to forget the device.
  6. Try setting up your device again.
  7. Uninstall and reinstall the Fitbit app. Note: Before you uninstall the app, verify that your phone is running a supported version of Android OS. If your phone is on an older version, you won’t be able to reinstall the app. For OS requirements, see Fitbit-compatible devices.
  8. Try to set up the Inspire 3 again.
