Inspire in an unworn coat records steps.

My Inspire 3 was accidentally left in a coat pocket in a wardrobe for several days. Yet it recorded several thousand steps each day. How???

Do you have your phone selected as a Fitbit device? If so, that means you want it to count steps counted by our phone whenever you are not wearing your fitbit tracker.

As our friend @JohnnyRow mentioned, it seems that you have Mobiletrack on

MobileTrack uses the phone's sensors to count steps. This is for when you have left your Fitbit at home (e.g. while charging, forgotten on a coat, etc). Please make sure MobileTrack is not activated.
It may happen that the steps recorded with the cell phone overwrite those from your Fitbit

In the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon (top left corner).
There you will see the devices linked to your account.
If you see the Mobile Device  Active(Smartphone)  option, tap it and remove it from the account.
