Is it worth getting a Fitbit Inspire 3?

I gave always been a fan of smart bands in the past and used to own an mi band back in India. After coming here however I did switch to an Apple Watch SE, which I did like but then the whole “ charge it every day” part sucked. I just want a good tracker to track my daily sleep, fitness routines and steps, just basic stuff. Access to notifications would be a plus for sure, but I’m not into the smartwatch features right now.

Will the Fitbit inspire 3 be a good fit or should I go for any other model? Are there any sales I should look out for, or will the price point be fixed at $99?

Hi @s1kibi  I have had a few different Fitbit styles and got the Inspire 3 back in July. It's really a solid little tracker that does the basics. You can check for sales, as there are always places that have them. Walmart and Amazon both have sales right now, so you might want to check those places. Be sure if you get from Amazon that the Fitbit is sold and shipped by Amazon, so it's covered by Fitbit's warranty. Same for Walmart. It's when we buy from unauthorized sellers that we find out there is no warranty from Fitbit. Mine was $79.98 and I got the extra 2 year warranty for about $10

If you are already integrated in the Fitbit community then it is ok but if you are not, I would advise against it. I have been using Fitbit for 7 years and in the last three or so the service has really dropped down massively.

I actually stopped last year after the ‘charge 5’ I bought was a) massively over sold, most features advertised were not complete and then b) it never worked for more than three months at a time before having to send back for replacement.

Then in May I was bought the ‘inspire 3’ as a gift and it’s been ok. For example, this morning it won’t sync so I followed all the steps that Fitbit recommend and now my the Fitbit app won’t even recognize the device, even though according to the iPad Bluetooth settings it is connected.

I also use the scales and over the last months they have been really bad, there are lots of messages in the forums with cute little replies from Fitbit ‘We hear your problems ❤️, but not we not here to fix them 🤪.’

It is for these reasons I decided to create a Fitbit community account today, having exhausted all the tips on how to make this ‘inspire 3’ work smoothly. But when I saw your message thought it would be good to try and help a person avoid investing in a once great company slowly disintegrating due to a seemingly disinterested corporate behemoth interested only in farming the precious data.

HOWEVER, if you already have a fitbit and have gotten used to how bad things have become then the ‘inspire 3’ is ok, the only caveat is that this device doesn’t count the stairs you climb and the GPS is really shoddy, everything else is fine though.

I've been happy overall with mine that I got in February.   It's got some quirks and the data is not always what  you expect.  I had a $30 no name tracker from Amazon that did almost everything  I wanted but the Fitbit was free from my health insurance plan so I took it.  The Fitbit does a lot more than the inexpensive trackers, if you need all those capabilities and the Fitbit community is generally helpful in answering  questions.

It would be super helpful if the "no" responders would expand on their posts.

I have the ill-fated Charge 5. After about 6 months it stopped giving me movement reminders and step goal achievement notifications so I got a replacement under warranty. The new one had exactly the same problems and I just gave up at that point. Now the clasp at one end of the band has become so unreliable that I'm in danger of losing the thing altogether so I need something new.

Seeing the release of the Charge 6 I was going to get one but I will never use half the new features so I'm looking at dropping down to the Inspire 3 because it has everything I need without a lot of superfluous stuff that will only cause issues down the line (because the more crap they stick on these fitness trackers, the more problems they have). It's got to be better than the Charge 5, right?

I bought a Inspire 3 last March and have almost nonstop issues with the FitBit app not downloading to my phone Samsung,Galaxy S205G watch not synching, not synching, or inability to access FitBit web site.

I've spent hours on phone or messaging FitBit tech team and all the things they told me to do, which I'd done on my own, never worked

I finally gave up and suddenly after FitBit updated their app the phone suddenly synched with watch and web site.  Well that last only a few days. Now watch won't synch with phone again. I WILL NEVER BUY another FitBit watch no matter what the price

I don’t like that I haven’t been able to set up my different topics like my old fitbits were set up. I need to call them and see it they can tell me how to move the topics around. I don’t really need all the bells and whistles but I understand some people want them.

I second the no, I had an inspire 2 then a second 2 . They attached my 12 month free premium to the device I passed on so someone got a bargain!
i stuck with it because I liked the ap on my iPad but it’s soo awful now. Completely illegable fora dyslexic . Any useful graphics gone.
within 5 months my inspire 3 has just stopped responding to anything and I’ve been sent a “ reconditioned” face. Scratched , obviously secondhand and with a reduced warranty.
In the bin and no more titbits .after 4 years it’s just useless tat now.
