Welcome to the forums @TM2024 @Davdanhog.

Thank you for providing the details regarding your Inspire 3.

Please confirm if you are using Mobile track. It is a service that allows you to count steps using your phone even if you forget to wear your Fitbit. You can "unpair" Mobile Track from your account.  On your Fitbit app go to the upper left corner, on the phone and device icon. Click on your phone icon and on the 3 dots and choose "unpair".

When I go to the device/phone icon in the upper left corner in the Fitbit
app i do not have the three dots only the sync icon. Is there another way
to unpaired mobile track?

Some additional information - the app currently shows 12,273 steps and my
Inspire has 5940 steps. However the Inspire had over 7000 steps earlier
today after I went for a walk. I have been wearing the Inspire all day but
the app has the correct step count.

If the phone icon is under 'Add Connections', instead of under 'Devices', then you are not using Mobiletrack.

You would have to manually add your phone as a Device to enable Mobiletrack.

It is under Devices.

You will need to remove your phone from the Devices list to disable Mobiletracking.

Removing the phone from Devices seems to have resolved the step
discrepancies. Voice cues are also working again.
