Phone & Text notifications stopped working on Inspire 3

Hello,

My Inspire 3 is no longer receiving phone and text notifications. I have followed all the troubleshooting steps in the Community forum posts.  Here are the pertinent items:

Google Pixel 7 Pro = Android version; 14, last updated 9/5/2024 (no further updates)

Fitbit App Version: updated 9/25/82024; 4.27.fitbit-mobile-1101268

  Inspire 3 Firmware version 63.200001.210.26

  I have:

Uninstalled and reinstalled the Fitbit App (also checked to see if there were any updates, there are none)

  Restarted the Inspire 3 tracker

Restarted the Google Pixel 7 Pro

  Turned off/turned on Bluetooth feature

Verified that the Inspire 3 has permission to access/display both text messages & phone contacts.

I'm not sure what happened, but this feature suddenly stopped working, and I can no longer receive notifications for both the phone and text messages on my Inspire 3 tracker.

  Does anyone have any ideas?

  Thanks!

Hi, @KDB_58 , it sounds like your Fitbit may have become unconnected to your phone.  I would recommend opening your Fitbit app on your phone and clicking on the small icon top left (smartphone and watch icon). On the next screen click on the Inspire 3 picture and then choose notifications.  On the notification screen you will see 3 vertical lines top right.  Click on these and choose “Send a test call notification”.  This should show and buzz on the Fitbit.

It is also worth checking that your Fitbit is not in do not disturb (DND) mode.  From the clock face swipe down.  If it is in DND mode you will see a watch with a blue line through it.  Even if it is not in DND mode it is probably worth tapping to toggle it into DND mode and then toggling it back to Autowake to make sure that the setting has not somehow got stuck.

I hope this helps.  Let us know how it goes.  Welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for your response. I've tried the test call from both the app and another smartphone, and I don't receive notifications. I also tried the DND toggle off/on again, and still nothing. I contacted Customer Service as well, and they seem to be stumped, too! UGH! All was working well until the last update of the App in the latter part of September.

  Thanks again!

Hi, @KDB_58 , you mention that you tried from another smartphone.  Is this a phone that you sometimes have around?  If so, that may be your problem.  I have an iPad as well as my Android phone and I have the Fitbit app on both.  Whenever I lose notifications on my phone it is usually because the connection with my Fitbit has been “captured” by my iPad and won’t work on my phone.

If you do sometimes have the other smartphone around, I would recommend turning off its Bluetooth and then opening your app and syncing it to your Fitbit and then trying to send a test call notification.

Sometimes when you have the Fitbit app on 2 different devices they compete for connection and the result can be that neither connects properly.

Is your Fitbit syncing as expected?

Julia_G,

Thanks again for your reply.  My other phone is completely disconnected from the Fitbit application (Fitbit is not installed), it's my work phone; I only have the app installed on one phone.  The other portions of the app *do* sync w/the Inspire 3, so I'm perplexed as to why this feature has stopped working since the firmware update in the latter part of September.

  Thanks again!

  Have a wonderful day!
