My old Inspire HR broke off at the band connection, like so many others, and I’ve been making do with a clunky one/piece band that I got on Amazon. I finally decided to go for a new Inspire 3, and I just opened the box and am extremely frustrated to fine that the band connection is the same as my previous model!! I can’t even believe this? How long will we be given this time for a replacement, when it breaks??

Hi, @Chess, you may be interested in Fitbit Legal: Terms of Sale if you bought your new "Inspire 3" from Fitbit you can return it within 45 days. You may find it more convenient to return it to the vendor depending on where you are, Amazon, for instance, have a comprehensive returns policy.
If the connector breaks within the warranty period it is covered by the warranty.
If you feel strongly about any aspect of "Fitbit" (or any other maker) devices it's a good idea to research before buying, in the instance of an "Inspire 3" this video at 3:46 & 7:19 clearly shows the connectors. I would add these connectors are widely used by other makers and while care needs to be taken to ensure the pins are properly located and extended they are reliable in my experience. Third-party connectors always need to be treated with caution though no one would suggest they are the responsibility of Fitbit (or whoever made the device).
I hope this helps.
Cheers
