Should I get the new phone with android 9 for next app update?

Im currently using xperia xz1 compact, which is running android 8, however, its dying after 4 years of usage. Im tempted to get the new xz1 compact, but Ive read that current version of the fitbit app is the last, which will be supporting android 8 😞

Is it really necessary, or maybe I will be able to use the older version of the app ? I really dont wanna get anything, but new xperia xz1 compact. Im only using fitbit inspire 3 for sleep tracking, heart rate and timer ...

I really hope It will be possible to use older version of an app ( maybe rejecting the update, not uninstalling the app ? )

Hi @Kordianek  Android 9 is the minimum right now, so you ought to go with a newer version of it than that if you're buying a new phone. You can only download the latest version of the app for the phone you're using. As time goes by, the minimum will change and Android 9 is over five years old and no longer supported by Android. You can try to refuse an update, but sometimes my phone updates things even when I ask it not to do it. Why not see if you can find a phone with Android 10 or 11. The current version is Android 14 and was released a few weeks ago. I have a Samsung 8 phone with Android 9, so I'm looking for a new phone myself!

Stepping in the U.S.A. since September 2013. Android 14
