Texts not I working with inspire 3 and iPhone SE 2020

I just got my inspire 3  on Wednesday and immediately found that the text messages weren’t coming through to my Fitbit. I did all the troubleshooting (I mean every single one!) and even spent over an hour with a tech person at Fitbit  who also went through all the steps and escalated my situation because he couldn’t solve it. He has no idea why it’s not working, but only says that iPhone users can have problems, I contacted Fitbit again yesterday and they’re basically saying that with my case #, they had no information in there to help them. I’m not sure if anyone else is having these issues and if it was resolved or should I return this Fitbit? Not even sure if Google store will refund me. No one is helpful there either.  This is very important as I got this primarily for steps and text messages. VERY frustrating.  Any thoughts on this?

Hi @Juliephd  by any chance you have Verizon and recently had to change to Google Messages?

I do not have Verizon. So no. The only thing is that 5 years ago my old Fitbit was connected to my apple and I used my aol account to open it. Although I had a separate gmail account, it wasn’t until now do I have to use it through google and my gmail account. I don’t get it. I reinstalled the fit bit app but that didn’t help.

I read your post and it doest’t apply to me or inspire 3 (my app shows battery on top left and “today” is close to top center) of that page.  The biggest headache is that under my apps notifications on my Fitbit, it only shows 5 apps Experian, google maps, clock and 2 others that have zero relevance. Even hitting search, nothing shows up. I have literally tried everything on both my app and my iPhone and nothing works. Even the Fitbit tech guy was dumbfounded and nobody else at Fitbit is helping or following up with my case. I’ve emailed them several times for updates and all I get is an acknowledgment that I contacted them and if I have questions I can respond to that email. It’s a black hole.
Will the google store online where I got this, allow me to return this (at their expense for shipping back)? I have never liked or dealt with anything google before and I’m not a fan.

Hi @Juliephd  I've asked a Fitbit Moderator to stop by to address this with you. I'm not sure on returns, but you need to be within the 13 day return window and contact support to begin the process.

Thank you. I hope I’ll hear back soon from the moderator as time is running out. Last Friday when talking to Fitbit support, she said my case # did not have any info on it , despite my having spent an hour plus 2 days before with a tech who took screenshots and included all that we tried (and then she wanted me to keep taking screenshots of things on my phone, which I had no time for) and when I asked about returning it, she said they don’t do that as they are customer service and that I need to contact the Google Store. I am not sure what to do at this point. If I could just get this text notification working, I would be fine keeping this Fitbit, but there seems little hope of that happening. Is there an official place at Fitbit or google store where I can lodge my complaint?

@Odyssey13 Thank you for your help and letting us know about this thread.

@Juliephd , A warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your messages and feedback. I apologize for the experience you have had. This is not what we want for our users.

I verified with Support, it seems that you have more than 1 case open. This might have caused the misunderstanding with our team members. I verified with them.  I was told that you contacted Google Support and then Fitbit Support.

Please keep in mind, to contact the correct team as we are 2 different brands.
If you purchased the Inspire 3 on the Fitbit store (fitbit.com) you'll need to contact them to see what they can do for you, if you wish to return your tracker. (Fitbit Support ).

If you purchased on the Google store, then you'll need to contact Google Support
Info about the Google Store return policy, can be read here : About the Google Store return policy

Depending on where (Store)  you purchased the tracker, the return policies might vary.

Just to confirm. Did you read and try the steps and instructions described here: Why are notifications delayed or missing?
There are some settings on your iPhone that might need to be changed or verified.

Thank you for all that information. I’ve been playing around with Google on my phone, Fitbit app and my Fitbit for a couple days, deleting things, then restarting, and many other things (couldn’t say what) and I’m not sure what made the difference, but I eventually got the texts to show on my Fitbit! Im hoping it’ll stay working because I have no clue how I did it!

Hello again! Had a wonderful few days with my Fitbit getting text messages and I even bought more band colors as I decided not to return it and guess what? I woke up today and the texts are not working again on the Fitbit. I haven’t updated my iOS or changed anything on my phone or my Fitbit and I checked Notifications were on, do not disturb was off and all the other things and it’s all good but still no text messages. My only other thought is to completely delete my Fitbit from the app and then put it back on, but I’m not sure if I’ll lose all the information I’ve built up for the week.  Also don’t know if I should delete my Fitbit app completely and re-install and then put it back on. My Fitbit battery is at 45%. Any suggestions? It still gets so frustrating and confusing because Google itself is not really compatible with iPhones, or so it seems with me.

@Juliephd , Nice to see you back! Thank you for your fully descriptions and questions.

If you decide to delete the Fitbit app and reinstall it, all your synced data will remain saved into your account.

Before taking any further step, please sync your Inspire 3 with the Fitbit app so that the remain data on the tracker gets saved into your account.

I wouldn't suggest you to reinstall the Fitbit app yet.

I assume that you already tried the steps described here again? Why are notifications delayed or missing?
If so , please try the following, some steps you have already done but the order is important:

  • Restart your Inspire  3.
  • On your phone, go to Settings>Bluetooth and remove all connections to the tracker. (Forget, ignore or unpair device depending on the phone's operating system version)
  • Turn off Bluetooth and restart your phone. (Turn it off and on again).
  • When the phone is back on, turn Bluetooth back on but DO NOT try to connect to the tracker from here.
  • Go to the app. From here, try setting up the tracker as a new device.
