The miles aren’t tracking right on my device. My device says I have way too many miles for the amount of steps I have.

Are you tracking miles with the phone GPS or by step length?  If you're  using step length then that may not be set correctly.  I calculate step length by running or walking a known distance then dividing by the number of steps.   Then the distance is generally pretty accurate when I don't have my phone.
