I have tried restarting, logging in and out of my Fitbit account and changing the time and date settings in the fitbit app. But, my Fitbit keeps showing the time as 6 hours in advance.

Did you turned off the "Set automatically " option on the time zone settings?
Depending if you are using a Fitbit Account or a Google account you may proceed differently .
