I found that after I choose a water activity like kayaking that I couldn't turn on the Waterlock feature. Should I choose that first and then the exercise? What is the recommended sequence?

Hi, @Cathy367 , the “water lock” feature does not actually change anything about the water resistance of the device. Absolutely the only thing that water lock does is make the touch feature on the screen unresponsive (that’s so splashing waves don’t change your settings). So you need to set up any apps or functions that you need before turning on the water lock feature.
I hope this helps. Welcome to the forums!

Hi @Julia_G & welcome @Cathy367 to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here!
Let me help you with the water lock feature on your Inspire 3.
Turn on the water lock setting when you're in water to prevent the screen and buttons on your tracker from activating. When water lock is on, your screen and buttons lock, and the water lock icon appears at the bottom. Notifications and alarms still appear on your tracker, but you must unlock your screen to interact with them. In addition, when you launch an activity, the screen shows the stats of the activity only
This being said, i would suggest that you set your Inspire 3 to detect your Kayak activity automatically so you can lock your device and allow the Fitbit device to track your activity for you.
To do so, i recommend checking our help article How do I track my activity with my Fitbit device? > Can I change how my activities are tracked?

@DavidFitbit I apologize if I misread your post, but kayaking isn't tracked automatically.

Hi @Cathy367 & @LZeeW. Thanks for the clarification @LZeeW.
In this case, the solution available will be to track your Kayak activity without locking the screen. As @Julia_G said, the water lock, only prevents water from interacting with the screen.
Another solution would be, to go Kayaking and allow the device to track the activity in no matter which type and then go editing accordingly by following the instructions in our help article How to add, edit, or delete Fitbit data & activities > How to edit or delete an exercise or activity...
