Walks with rollator auto logged as biking

Hi y’all, Fitbit user since last year, love my Inspire 3 for swimming! I have been using a rollator for the last few months and love it. It really enables me to be active in times and places I previously couldn’t. It rules! But when it comes to my Fitbit, I’ve had a bit of an issue I would like to know how to fix. Nothing major or serious, just a small annoyance, hoping for a simple solution. When I walk with my rollator, my Fitbit will auto log the exercise as biking. I have auto detection turned off for all exercises to the fullest extent I’m aware of, but even after my walk just now, a full bike exercise got added after a couple minutes. This obviously doesn’t impact the functioning of my device, but I use my Fitbit to supplement my health monitoring and my ability to keep it accurate is important to me. Are there further auto log features I have yet to turn off? Has anyone else had issues with mobility devices auto logging as an incorrect exercise and found a solution? Thanks so much everyone!

Hi, @emfgreen , following a fairly recent update there is another place where you need to turn off the auto start for a biking activity, and that’s on the Fitbit itself.  On your Inspire 3 from the clock screen please swipe left to the exercise app.  Swipe up to scroll through the various activities and when you come to Bike, tap to open.  Then from the Start screen swipe up until you come to Auto Start and Auto Stop.  Set them both to OFF by tapping to slide the toggle switch to the left/off position.  (You should be able simply to turn off the Auto Start switch, but I would recommend turning off the Auto Stop as well, just in case.).

I’m fairly certain that this is why you are seeing a logged bike exercise, so please do try this and let us know if it worked.

Be aware that with Bike turned off your Fitbit may try to log it as something else!  Hopefully it will choose “Walk” - if that is your preference - but you should be aware that other activities have an Auto Start toggle switch which is set to ON by default.

If you would like to be sure that your rollator activities are logged as a walk, you may need to start your activity as a “Walk” manually, using the exercise app (and don’t forget to stop your activity at the end…)

I hope this helps.  Welcome to the Community Forums!

Thank you so much for replying!!
I am going to do those other settings now and hopefully on my walk tomorrow I will be all set! Thank you so much for letting me know about the parts that needed to be changed on the watch itself. I had no idea! I enjoy doing all my exercises logged manually and because of that I was feeling so lost with the automatic bike stuff. I certainly wish I was going as fast as a bike, lol. You’re the best!
