What happened to the exercise/walk maps?

I had not gotten a map after my walks outside since July 23, 2024. I have changed nothing until yesterday when I updated my inspire 3 device.

Now I get no notification about GPS connectivity on the device at all. That arrow has been removed.

Nor when I make sure the Fitbit app is connected to GPS always, and I go outside for a short walk, the app has the Location Services arrow at the upper left but still no map of my walk, let alone data associated with the map. 

I have restarted my iPhone 12 Pro Max running iOS 17.5.1 and restarted the app, and no map when I just returned from a short walk. Has there been a change in the Fitbit app in late July that has disabled GPS tracking and with the latest Inspire 3 update, completely disabled any sort of tracking? 

 

What gives?
