Wildly inaccurate calorie burn

I'm not a fan of the recent update at all. I am an avid exerciser and I rely/relied on the Fitbit to track (semi-)accurate information. Since the update a few days ago, I'm seeing a much higher-than-average calorie burn, while also a much lower-than-average active minutes calculation.

To test this, I went on a 1-hr easy walk with my Fitbit and also a chest strap monitor. Prior to these updates, my chest strap was usually displaying a ~100ish less calorie burn than the Fitbit when I would do daily high-intensity exercise. I could live with that.

Today, to take out the variable of a high heart rate, I went on an easy walk. The chest strap and fitbit both accurately measured my average heart rate enough that I trusted both. However, the Fitbit calorie burn was 200 calories more than what the chest strap calculated. Based on my heart rate, activity level, pace/speed, weight etc, it makes MUCH more sense that I burned 247 calories in that time than 456. Of course, I can't go back and see the actual "workout" I tried to track at the beginning of my walk since it doesn't display anywhere in the app. Once I stopped the "workout" I lose the ability to review the info - ugh!

Is this just me, or are others having this issue? Even though I've had a Fitbit in some fashion since 2011, if it can't give me a reasonable calorie burn estimate, it's just the last straw.

There's so much information there to try to take in and understand, I'm just going to try to address on issue.  You say you can't go  back and review the workout after you stop it.
On the phone app, tap Exercise Days and it will list the workouts; tap a workout and it will list the details for that workout.  Is that the information you have been missing?

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Thank you for trying to help! That used to work. I used to be able to start and end an exercise from the device and then review the details in the app like you've described. However, now, even if I choose "walk" as the activity on the device and start (and then end the session when finished) it will only show up in the app as "Moderate Activity" or "Intense Activity" (If I'm running) and no longer lets me tap on it to see the details. 

Even if I don't start an exercise from the device and rely on it to auto recognize, it's the same "Moderate" or " Intense" without the option to tap to see details on the app.

I was hoping to attach a screenshot, but can't... An example from today: 

8:14 AM | Intense activity | 104 Zone Mins | 535 cals 

I'm not able to tap that to see duration, heart rate info, etc anymore.

But did you try looking the way I described?

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I guess I thought I was looking where you were describing. I didn't see anything called "Exercise Days".... but then dug deeper and found it as an "Activity" setting I had hidden when it hadn't been necessary for me.

I have enabled it, and found those missing activities. THANKS!

(Now I just need to reconcile how a 55 min run and a 1-hr light walk can have a total calorie burn within 80 calories of each other and far off from the chest strap data. But this helps solve something I also needed!)

My first thought is that calorie burn is based on heart rate, no matter what the activity, so that's always the first place to look when investigating calorie burn.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
