Hi @Fulldeck welcome to the Community Forums. I'll be glad to help you with the sleep option on your Inspire.

All of our wrist-based devices automatically detect your sleep, meaning you just need to wear your tracker or watch to bed. Autodetection is based on your movement. When you haven’t moved for about an hour, your device assumes that you’re asleep.

Additional data such as the length of time your movements are indicative of sleep behavior (such as rolling over) help confirm that you’re asleep. Morning movement tells your tracker that you’re awake. If you’re not moving but not asleep for long periods of time it’s possible for your device to falsely record sleep, in which case you can delete the sleep log from your history.

If you're still not getting your sleep information on the Fitbit App, please confirm that your Inspire has synced with your mobile or syncing device. You can also restart your Fitbit and check the sensitivity of your Fitbit.

Your device's setting can record your sleep in either "sensitive" mode for extremely detailed sleep reporting or "normal" mode for a more basic idea of your sleep patterns. Note that if you use a Fitbit device with heart-rate tracking to detect your sleep stages, this setting doesn't apply.

  • The normal setting counts significant movements as being awake (such as rolling over) and is appropriate for most users.
  • The sensitive setting will cause your device to record nearly all movements as time spent restless or awake. This setting may be helpful for users who wake up feeling tired even though their sleep history shows sufficient rest.

If you use the Fitbit app for Android you must change your sleep sensitivity setting on fitbit.com.

Some users have reported better sleep tracking when using the option "on clip" instead of "on wrist", you can find the instructions on how to do so in the manual page 12 and 18.

OK that question said have one more word.. The word is accurately. It doesn’t track anytime from the day I go to sleep. Like tonight it won’t log anything from 9 PM to midnight. All entries seem inaccurate. They will be like 230 to 4 AM and say one and a half hours total it has done that for weeks. I have called the helpdesk I have reset the little fella at least three times . I have changed from standard to sensitive and back again. I

I always wear on my non-dominant arm. This is the main reason I wanted the tracker let’s to track sleep! Help please

I'm having the same problem.  The first time it happened,  I  reset and it worked for a week. It's happening again, I have reset it twice, and it's still not registering.

I bought this specifically for the sleep info. I'm really disappointed.

It's an Inspire, not Inspire HR.It still won't vibrate and reset. Tried several times yesterday and this am. It tracks everything but my sleep.I did take out warranty coverage when I  purchased it. I will try to return it today, but if they won't replace it, I will let you know.Thank you, LoriSent from my U.S.Cellular© Smartphone

I have the same problem with the sleep icon darkened on my Inspire HR wrist device.  I have already done all updates.  Bought device July  5 2019.   Sleep icon was lit ONCE.  Won’t work.  Have restarted, synced, updated.   Advice please.   Thanks.

I just spent 1 hour and 10 minutes on the phone with 2 different Fitbit reps dealing with this sleep issue and five other problems I have had with my Fitbit Inspire, which is only 3 months old, if that.  I won't rehash the increasing aggravating and angering conversation I had but to say after following their required many steps, which I knew wouldn't work since I tried them already, I was finally deemed eligible for a replacement. This Inspire has been trouble since day 1 (won't hold a charge, doesn't consistently measure sleep, track steps when you are driving - none of my other 3 Fitbits did this - wouldn't sync consistently and doesn't always turn back on after charging.  And then let's talk about this magnet connection; so not effective.  A new Inspire is coming but after this experience and the hassle I received during the 1 hour plus aggravation, I WILL be looking at other fitness devices when the replacement dies. Totally disgusted and fed up.

After following all steps it is now worse! It will no longer do all day sync with Bluetooth. I already contacted Amazon to return it. It’s sad - My OLD FLEX worked better than this. 🙄😔

The Fitbit Inspire is a lemon, a piece of crap and I'm betting the company
knows it. The list of people having problems with it is endless and the
company's resolution is to send a replacement. Why would a replacement be
considered satisfactory resolution? It's just trading one piece of garbage
with another. I'm done with Fitbit. It's not the only game in town.

I don't care how many suggestions the Fitbit moderators offer.  You must know, and surely the company knows, that the Inspire is a lemon, a piece of crap. And when the company offers another Inspire to replace the nonworking one, and calls that resolution, well, that's a joke because you're just trading one piece of garbage for another.  I'm done with buying Fitbits.  It's not like Fitbit is the only game in town.

I am also having issues with my Inspire as of 5 days ago. All my data syncs except for my sleep. I bought this tracker to replace the One because I don’t want a wrist tracker but instead one I can wear in my bra. I use the wristband to sleep and it just stopped tracking earlier this week. Please help!

I have come to believe this function just isn’t worth a darn. I’ve tried letting it know my location, sync all day & reset reset reset. I’d love to hear from someone with an inspire that DOES WORK

I had to return my first inspire HR. Replacement still won’t track sleep unless I do a manual sync. So annoying.

i found this thread because my new Inspire would not 1) autotrack sleep; 2) autotrack exercise; 3) buzz & notify on reminders to move.  I got the Inspire to replace my fading Alta which couldn't hold a charge.  Did not want the HR function. Took me a week to figure it out but here's what i did and everything is working now:

ON THE INSPIRE

a) from the Inspire menu with the battery meter on it, scroll down and change "on clip" to "on wrist" if you're wearing it on your wrist

b) on that same menu, turn Notifications on

ON YOUR PHONE

c) on your phone (mine is android), go to general/apps/fitbit/storage then "clear cache"

d) after you do a "clear cache" do a "forced stop"

e) restart your phone

IN THE APP

f) go to your device menu "Inspire" and find "Reminders to move" and turn it off

g) set Wrist Placement to what you use (dominant or non-dominant)

h) optional: I set All-Day Sync to ON

NEXT STEPS

i) Exit the app then hook your Inspire up to the charger and restart it 3 times in succession (instructions are online, follow them)

j) after the 3rd restart, open up the app on your phone, get to "Reminders to move" and turn them ON (if you want them on)

k) exit the app, restart your phone, restart your Inspire

After all of this, my fitbit Inspire is now functioning like my Alta and i am again happy with it.  I get the buzz with reminders to move at 10 to the hour, it autotracks my exercise like my alta used to, and autotracks my sleep like my alta used to.  I hope these steps work for you.

Oh my goodness THANK YOU!  This was so helpful!  I have an iphone so I just need to sort out how to clear the cache yet but otherwise, I appreciate your help 🙂
