12 hour run/walk how to keep fitbit powered

I will be doing a 50 miler in a few months. I am concerned that my fitbit will not last the whole time/distance. It is important to me to have the data. My goal is 100K steps in a day. In previous runs ie 30 miles it gives out in about 5 hrs. I was thinking about somekind of solar device I could use but not sure, just asking for input. How are you suppose to verify your data if your fitbit will not last the distance and time?

It has been a while since I've been active, like over 4-years here, but I remember a few posts from back then postulating you could use two different devices to track your steps.  Back then the only stipulation was you cannot have two of the same devices, so if you had, say, an Ionic and a Charge2, synching both would result in your step count being a sum of the two.

Assuming the above is still possible with the current version of the phone app, then you can charge your primary device while you're wearing your backup device is tracking your steps, and vice versa.

Sounds good. The key word/phrase is charging the other, what to use as my source of power. I tried a stick of power I picked up at a car agency awhile back. One of those impulse things sitting on the counter. It charge something, I forget what but it would not charge the iconic with the toggle. I am not a techy so the synching with two watches etc.. especially when your on mile 45 or so is not going to be a picnic. I don't mind giving up  10 minutes to charge my device every so often. I am not into time, I am into getting 100K steps in one day. Thanks for your input. Keep me in mind if you should run into any other possible ways to charge over long distances. Some the hikers of the Pacific Crest Trail are out for long day. The miles may not be that big but the time is a lot. I wonder how they keep their GPS or other devices going for long periods of time. the answer maybe their not into steps they just want to know they are going in the right direction and in most cases the trail is marked.
