1st update failing & phone stuck on updating screen

three times now I have had to restart my phone. the update bar gets to full on both the fitbit and the phone, the fitbit restarts but then the phone gets stuck on the updating screen and the fitbit just goes about life showing no sign of doing anything else.

30 minutes is the longest i have sat there watching nothing happening.

when I open the app the update is still there waiting for me.

would it be ok if I just ignore this update and wait for the next one as i am losing valuable steps?

I can send you the instructions I got from Fitbit but still isn't working...if it make you feel any better I must have tried 30x

I am having the same problem. I can never get it to update. It fails every time. I even keep both my phone and Fitbit plugged in next to each other. I have tried using wifi. I have had no success and I have tried it more than 10 times on different occasions.

I assume you're not getting a proper factory reset completed.
If done properly the watch will appear as if it's the 1st time you purchased it with generic greetings in multiple languages.
When you set it up in the same way you did when you bought it the update installs automatically.

Honestly, why do we have to sit on the line with the **ahem** support team for 30mins-over an hour to get things to work on this product!

What I failed to do properly was successfully do the factory reset correctly. Keep trying that to ensure the phone actually resets and starts from square 1 and you are closer to success

Mine is doing something similar. I'm trying to update after a long period of not using the fitbit, I still have the fitbit One.

Here's what mine looks like. https://imgur.com/GuiLDkO It's been hours of either this or the tracker loses the progress bar altogether and returns to normal menu while the phone's progress bar turns gray.

I did turn off location services on my phone during the update, so I turned it back on. A couple times I turned bluetooth off and on again to restart the update. I also plugged in the tracker to charge. So far nothing is working.

Again the "magic" lies in the reset functionality. Often times you think you reset it but really only turned it off and back on and the painful Odyssey of problems occur. The Fitbit will vibrate and you will get the welcome screen in multiple languages and you will set it up like the 1st time you bought it

I gave up on versa. Iconic is even worse. 24 hours, still not updated. Now I am resetting and resetting..not losing updated data before resets...it continues from where I left off

Remember you've only successfully "reset" your phone if you get the original welcome message when it restarts. I kept thinking I reset it but actually just kept turning it on and off.

I recommend calling Fitbit support. I had same issue and tech fixed. I have not had same issue with all other updates. It was just the settings on the ionic.
