3 Main reasons I'm forced my pebble

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

So I've had the ionic for 3 days now and it's a really nice watch fitness tracker. This is supposed to be what shifts my pebble out, however that's not possible yet. Here are my 3 main beefs that make me wear both:

1) Notifications, yes the ionic has notifications but it looks and feels like an after thought, the notification drawer on the watch has a lot of text and no real seperate between messages, and no real way to determine if a message was from an app lime discord or messaging. Also the no ability to reply with canned messages and emojis is sad.

2) music, yes it has music but only for local on watch and apps. There's no connections to see music playing on your phone nor any ways to change songs or volume.

3) my biggest beef is the watch crashing in the middle of the night, Ive relied on my pebble as my main alarm in the morning and it has never let me down, so far my ionic has crashed 2 out of 3 nights  to where it shut down and I had to turn it back on. Not sure the cause of this and I'll be adjusting settings to see if I can find the issue but this is bad.

Again it's a really nice tracker and potential pebble replacement but for fitbit to having obtained pebble these oversights are embarrassing. Do pebble some justice and use some of their features please

Hi @Wetoded

If you are using an Android phone you will be in luck regarding point 1. Canned replies will be included with the update which is currently rolling out.

You should also be able to control the music on your phone with your Ionic. Have you tried the following steps?

I believe the step involving the Bluetooth classic isn't required if using an iOS device, so that part only applies to Android and Windows phone.

As for point 3, that's a little trickier. Have you tried restarting your Ionic by pressing and holding the left button and bottom right button together for 15 secs. If that doesn't help I might suggest a full factory reset, this definitely isn't normal behaviour.

Thanks for the response didn't know about the music settings  wish my ionic came with actual feature overview instructions but I got nothing.

Anyway I do remember reading the response is coming out and that's great hopefully they overhaul the notification area especially how the new messages stack on the bottom and the clear all is at the top forcing you to scroll through all your messages to delete or clean them up.

Secondly I have the music classic now setup what it doesn't mention is to keep the option at pair in settings to connect it (mine switched to on as soon as i clicked the classic and it didn't connect until I flipped it back to pair) but it's connected however it doesn't recognize anything, the watch shows a green phone and says start playing music to which I tried playing a podcast with the app pocket casts, no change, tried music through my plex app  no change, finally tried local music using poweramp and still no change. Will continue to mess with it.

Lastly I'll probably spend a few days checking this it's not a deal breaker at the moment as it works perfectly throughout the day so could be bad luck not sure but I'll update with anything interesting

Hopefully you manage to get the music controls working as expected. I haven't used the music controls myself so can't offer any troubleshooting from personal experience. Maybe someone will come along who has experience of the setup.

Good luck, we look forward to your findings.

Edit---

Just for future reference here is the link to the Ionic user manual.

You could clear the notifications manually by swiping right or left, I can't remember....

Yes clearing by swiping does work unless you have alot of notifications throughout the day, which I don't have the time or the motivation to keep up on it. All they need to do is reverse the order so new messages stack on top right under the clear button  would make it alot more efficient.

Update for music got it figured out apparently if nothing is showing up on the watch you may have to go back to the previous screen with the selection of watch or phone(screen after clicking 3 dots) then toggle watch then phone again and it should appear and work.

Still enjoying the device overall just seems clunky which can all be fixed with updates as it's still a relatively new device
