7th Ionic to fail

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have had an ionic for 2.5 yrs now. My 7th one failed this morning but it is only 9 months old. This model whilst the most expensive is utterly unreliable and poorly made. Granted the other 6 were replaced under warranty but not with new ionics but "re-conditioned ones". Now i dont get a free replacement will I be buying a fitbit? Not a chance.

It’s good to see you in the community, @Sprockett1.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing your experience. I understand how you are feeling and would like to advise that depending on available inventory, our Support team might send a factory-certified refurbished product as a replacement as stated in our warranty. These are typically products that were returned to Fitbit unused.

Thank you for your feedback, our team is always working on our products and services, and your comments are always welcome. Before considering other options, could you please provide the details of the issue you're experiencing with your watch? I will be glad to assist you further.

Looking forward to your response.

each time you sent me a re-conditioned Fitbit and each time they failed throughout the warranty period, like I said you sent me 6 and now the 7th has failed. Still records steps but can’t see screen and select any features so pretty much useless

Thank you for your reply, @Sprockett1.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Thank you for providing the additional details. If you haven't tried this already, please do the following:

  1. Restart the device: How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  2. Change a clock face: How do I change the clock face on my Fitbit device?

Hope this helps!

many thanks for your message. I have tried numerous times to restart it and change the clock face. However no matter what I do the screen is blank, completely black. I can see it will record steps if I have the app open on my phone but the cscreen has failed so can’t do any exercises which I do daily

My ionic was my second Fitbit device. The first failed in warranty and was replaced. The second was my ionic. It lasted around 18 months and then died. Fitbit help suggested some possible fixes - which didn’t work. Customer service are basically saying “tough - it’s out of warranty” but you can have a discount off the next one.

This is poor. Why would anyone buy another one knowing the expected lifespan is so ridiculously short?

If the life expectancy of these products is so disappointing, at least be honest about it at the point of purchase.

interesting the warranty in the EU is 2 years but only 12 months in the UK.

You do get two years in Uk at least we did while in europe. My first 5 were all replaced in the 2 years. The last one lasted just 9 months so is now out of warranty. For me this is utterly ridiculous. They just tell you to reset. What they should be doing is replacing with brand new watches rather than “re conditioned” ones which were probably fixed broken ones

Warranty was two years agreed, but now it’s only a year as we are outside the EU.

So if  it breaks after 13 months, you have lost your money.

How is this a reasonable way to treat loyal customers. I will be looking elsewhere and won’t be recommending Fitbit to anyone.

So disappointing.

Valid point I have had Fitbits for nearly 10 years but satisfied now the quality just in any there. My other half’s fit charge 4 has broken in just 6months apparently cos they have changed to a cheaper design no doubt to profit more.... I am going to get an Apple Watch I think
