Active Minutes Not Converted to Active Zone Minutes after update

I'll start by saying that I frankly really love my Ionic.

I've read through all posts on the new "Active Zone Minutes" Ionic feature that accompanies the upgrade to version 71.6.19.

What I have not yet read is anyone questioning why after the version 71.6.19 Ionic upgrade all prior active minutes are not converted to active zone minutes.

Unless I am missing something, all the data needed to convert from active pre-71.6.19 upgrade minutes to version 71.6.19 active zone minutes are there.

I've attached a screen shot, "1)" (below) of my active minutes for today, so the feature works for active minutes following my Ionic version 71.6.19 upgrade.

But I've also attached a screen shot, "2)" (below), of my hour and 35 minute spinning session this past Sunday, 8/30/2020, where my heart rate during the session above 97 bpm (my fat burn lower threshold) was 87 minutes.

So why does the version 71.6.19 upgrade not convert the 87 minutes I spent spinning on 8/30 to active zone minutes when I spent 87 minutes in the fat burn zone as indicated by my bpm above 97?

Finally - I can honestly live with version 71.6.19 capturing only my active zone minutes going forward and not converting my prior active minutes, but it would be awesome if the pre-71.6.19 active minutes were converted so I could see all of those hard-earned active minutes in my Fitbit iPhone dashboard!

Thank you.

Jonathan.

I wonder if it doesn't convert old data because the new zones are based, partly, on your resting heart rate and it would have to assume that figure was the same then as it is now if converting data.

That’s an excellent point since resting heart rate is always changing and for active zone minutes it is known and accurate, mostly, at the time the active zone minute is logged.

So as I noted:  Happy to have my active zone minutes logged only going forward post Ionic version 17.6.19 upgrade.

Well done and thank you.

@SunsetRunner  @SteveH  I have a different perspective on this question.  Fitbit does have all the data because you can see your resting for a year on one screen in the phone app.  You can scroll back as far as you want to scroll and see your resting heart rate.  But these calculations can only follow the code that the programmers wrote.  It seems that Fitbit chose not to make that part of the code.

Good point @LZeeW ! I think you are probably right and it was a conscious decision.

It's interesting to note that I was in a thread where someone wanted access to see their old Active Minutes prior to the change. Had the old data been converted they would not have been able to do that. Convert or leave: either way someone will not have the solution they would like.

@LZeeW I absolutely agree that this was Fitbit's concrete strategy.

Thanks.
