Active minutes disappearing after Ionic syncs

For the 2nd day in a row now my Fitbit shows my active minutes when I record a treadmill workout, but then after some time those minutes are gone.  I have been using the map my walk app so that my calories sync to my fitness pal, but until yesterday I never had an issue with my active minutes disappearing. I had read a post yesterday about needing to be continuously active for 10 minutes so the hr would register, but I thought it said 42 minutes active when I finished.  But I know today my active minutes were in my watch for 34 minutes and then later in the day it was gone and said it was 0 active minutes.  I did a firmware update Saturday I think...no other changes have happened, it’s charged, it’s working otherwise and I have not noticed any other settings missing.

@Stush It's nice to see you on the Community.

Thanks for the detailed information shared. I appreciate the research done prior to posting.

I would like you to double check that MyFitnessPal isn't syncing any activities that might be deleting your active minutes. If you track the activity with your Ionic, there's no need to manually log any other activity.

When using MapMyFitness, this app won't sync any data to Fitbit. However, Fitbit will sync distance and calories burned. Instead MyFitnessPal will sync logged food and activities to Fitbit and Fitbit will sync steps, calories and scale measurements.

Let me know the outcome.

@SilviaFitbit  the workouts that I track on my ionic or my versa have never shown up on MyFitnessPal, I have always had to enter them manually until I started using MapMyWalk this year.  MapMyWalk shows my workouts on the MyFitnessPal exercise section and sometimes I get additional calories back depending on how many steps I have taken that day.  I have found my watch to be more reliable than the MapMyWalk app so I have adjusted the distance in the app or the calories in MyFitnessPal.  MyFitnessPal also adds this workout to the FitBit app, but it adds it as an additional workout and doens't overwrite the one that was captured by my watch.  This has been going on since I got my FitBit back in 2017 and started using MyFitnessPal. Because of this I don't think the problem is with either of the 2 above mentioned apps, it seems to be with either my ionic, as I didn't have this issue with my versa, or the FitBit app itself.  I know that my watch said 34 minutes of activity yesterday when I was done with a walk around 210 pm, but when I looked at it later in the evening the minutes were 0.  It also appears as though the HR was tracked during my walk as it shows changes under heart rate when I look at the logged workout, but under energy it is nothing but flatline.

I just did a treadmill workout tonight and this is what my ionic and the Fitbit app showed until it removed my active minutes. The 38 minutes on the second pic are now gone.

  • @SilviaFitbit update - I removed the exercise that MyFitnessPal added to the Fitbit app and my active minutes returned. Though the picture I posted last night of the impact tab in the Fitbit app did not reinstate my active minutes, it does now show it on the front screen where the lighting bolt type picture is. Is this some new issue between Fitbit bad MyFitnessPal because I have prior days where the day shows both MyFitnessPal workout and my watch workout without an issue.
