Though you can connect your airpods with your ionic, it seems like the volume control won't work: you will have to set the volume using your iphone, and then keep it like that with the ionic.
I have them and tried to use them but there are much better options at least right now. As someone already said, they do connect but no volume control and they drop 15 minutes in every time. I love the combo but right now try something else.
