Android app, how to focus on bike rides not steps?

Just started on the Ionic, moved from Garmin, so most likely user error.

Cycled to work, paused or stopped when I arrived.

An hour later I go to the watch and I can't see the ride on the watch.

I am used to being able to see the last few on the Garmin, but no worries

Checked the Android App and no ride there, just something about the number of steps..

How do I find my lost / last exercise?

Thanks

@Compact the Fitbit dashboard is designed around steps, and miles based on steps. A couple of seemingly easy things you can't do:

- display bike miles on dashboard

- display daily or weekly running miles, because all step based miles roll up into a single mileage on dashboard

Same with challenges, they are all step based.

Fitbit is designed to motivate people to get out and walk or run, and weight tracking / calorie counting. Once you understand that, the app makes more sense.

p.s. I'm a cyclist and weight lifter, agree with you about Fitbit app lacking support for focusing on other (non-step based) activities

Update

I have found the bike ride on my watch, by scrolling up, however I can't see it on the phone, even after it appears to Sync.

Also Strava app says there is No recent Acitivy.

Any thoughts or dummies guide on how to connect and sync with my mobile?

OK further update ,new user looking in the wrong place. The bike rides have sync'd to the Android app, however they are buried.

How do I change the app to focus on bike rides and running  not steps.

The apps front page talks about steps with 2 miles distance  I have to drill into 1 of 5 days to find the bike rides . How do I put that front and center? I have no interest in counting my steps

Thanks

@bbarrera thanks for the reply.

I was given the Ionic as a gift, so can't complain, however it is annoying it is still focused on Stepping.

If fitbit want to compete with Garmin etc and attract a wider range of sports people (i.e. more money), they should allow people to customise the dashboard and focus on their own sports.

If i wanted to focus on my number of steps I could buy a cheap pedometer..

Oh well

Have you linked the strava app on your Ionic with your strava account? Once that is setup you should be able to view recent rides on the device within the strava app.

Hi @N8teGee don't get me started on that. I linked added the Strava app, logged in, I authorised fitbit in Strava, went on 2 x 16 miles which I can see in Fitbit with a map i.e. it has GPS, however these have not sync'd to Strava.

This morning I have removed the app and authorisation, re-added it and authorised, so will see what happens.

However the existing 2 rides in fitbit have not sync'd to Strava. I can see my existing ones I recorded on my Garmin.

Not sure if these would sync across. I will go for a run tonight, to see if that syncs, but not holding my breath.

edit "Confirm that you recorded a new exercise after connecting your accounts (previous exercises won’t be uploaded)." Bugger, that's 2 rides gone, I'll be using my Garmin as well until this is fixed

So far not 100% impressed with the fitbit, will have to see.

@Compact For what it's worth, I think there is currently an issue with the Fitbit - Strava link, I've seen this reported by other forum members. That could be why you're experiencing issues yourself.

It may be worth following this thread for updates on the issue.

Cheers will keep a lookout for that.

After removing and re authorizing Stava my rides sync'd, 12 hrs later, so now I'm happy

Just have to crack the music transfer and open a new bank account for the contactless and I'm there 🙂

Cheers for the answers
