Anybody have a Samsung Note 8 and Ionic?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I was planning on getting a new Note 8 tomorrow but after seeing it wasn't on the list of supported phones (neither is the Note 4 I have now)  I'm having second thoughts.  I really don't want my Ionic to work even less than it already does. Can someone let me know if the GPS, Pandora  and Strava features work with their Note 8?

thanks!

@Lisas1202 Welcome to the Fitbit family! Thanks for your interest for Ionic. I was checking the list of supported devices and the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note 8.0 are both listed as supported. You should not have any trouble using Ionic features with those phones.

Are you experiencing any trouble with it?

Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

I've got a Note 8 and it works with my Ionic.  I can't speak for Strava or Pandora as I don't use those features, though.

My LGV10 worked mostly fine w/ my Ionic. Occasionally had to reconnect the two, but otherwise i received all notifications and everything worked mostly as it should - except for music library. Recently my LG died and I got a new Samsung Note 8. My Ionic has NEVER synced notifications with the Note 8 - no texts, phone calls, FB, etc. I have to manually sync my fitness info 2-3 times daily, even with the "all day sync" selected (and it takes 8-10 attempts each time). Same with sleep tracking. I'm really disappointed that my Ionic is now nothing more than an over priced watch. I'm also disappointed that Fitbit is putting out a newer Smartwatch (Versa) instead of maintaining or improving/correcting performance on their current products. This will be my first and last Fitbit product. Which is sad because I waited almost a year just to buy Fitbits first smartwatch as my first smartwatch because I thought they would do it right...

I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, which came out a month before the Note 8,  and my Ionic works fine with it.

Does the media player work for you guys? The ionic does not see the media playing on my phone. I've tried connecting to the Bluetooth classic mode, but that doesn't work either.

I've never been able to get a music library on the Ionic. Even after trying
every trouble shooting method Fitbit had to offer. I am able to randomly
connect to Pandora w/ bluetooth headphones but not with any consistency.
Sometimes it gives me an error message that something is wrong w/ my
Pandora subscription, but Pandora works fine on my phone (and is a premium
subscription pkg). I just gave up on the music features of Ionic and was
willing to live with that when I was receiving notifications. Now that I
get zero notifications and NO help from Fitbit, the Ionic is an extremely
overpriced watch and step counter.

Another Note 8 guy here. 🙂

I don't have issues for now except for the crappy way of transfering music which you have to try several times to succeed. 🙂

Interesting.  I've spent 3 days trying to get deezer or Pandora to sync with my ionic from my note 8.  After day 2 of crappy customer support they just told me that the note 8 has not been tested & is not supported by the ionic.

My wife was told that the Ionic is not compatible with Samsung Note 8....funny thing is we both have the Ionic and we BOTH HAVE the Note 8 and she just recently started having sync issues ...kept calling tech support and 1st 3 techs made no mention of compatibility...

I've never had a problem with my Ionic and Note 8....Fitbit is lying

Right, this is important. My ionic has always worked great with my note 8 until the latest firmware update. Now @fitbitsupport are telling me it is not compatible so they cannot help with the synching issues that have just started to happen after their recommended firmware update. Rediculous.
