Is anyone happy with their Ionic? Is yours fully working and syncing? It seems most discussions here are about the problems, but looking at different stores online the reviews are still mostly positive. I can't tell if the one I have is just never going to work or it's a firmware issue that could be fixed. Right now I'm leaning towards this one is never going to work, but then I'm not sure if I should get a new one or not.

Got it for x-mas. Can't get it to sync. Can't get it to do anything, got the Ionic, very disappointed.

Not at first, it was ready to be sent back to Amazon but changed my mind.
Happy I did as I can see the potential with the device and since the firmware and recent application update it has gotten significantly better.
Now synchronises a lot more reliably (I am on Android) and does what I need of it, overall very happy.

I was close as well. I really had to play around with my Ionic to finally get it all figured out. Fitbit needs to do some work to make the setup experience a lot easier. I'm an IT person so I'm used to fighting with devices to get them work and I have a sense of what to look for as well. I just remember thinking that the average person would really be irritated to go through this. Ionic really is a good device once you get it setup and working right. It takes a considerable amount of patience. As it is, Fitbit syncing does NOT like to play well with others. You will have a far easier time syncing if you have no other blue tooth devices attached other than maybe a headset. I don't like being limited like that but if that's what it takes to give me a smooth operating experience, then so be it but I do expect Fitbit to deal with this in future updates. All of this aside, I really like my Ionic and as an added bonus, the Starbucks app since I'm addicted to the darn stuff.

I am going on two weeks with mine and I am really happy with it. It is more comfortable to wear than my charge 2 (a fact that still baffles me) and I have been enjoying the user experience. I really like the bright display and being able to listen to music from the device. I did have an issue the first day with syncing my Pandora stations and an issue last week where notifications stopped coming through but all that has been resolved. Even with those quirks though, I have been pleased with my Ionic.

Supposedly when they designed the Ionic, they put a slight curve to it to fit better to the wrist. I'll be darned if I can tell but that might account for it fitting better. I find it comfortable as well. Running like a champ.

@Testimony777 @ConnieL429 I find it much more comfortable than my much smaller Alta HR and I agree it is probably due to the shaping. I was really suprised at how good it feels. It is like a part of my arm which the Alta HR never was.

I have had mine for almost 2 months and really enjoy it. I have looked at the other smart watches coming out in 2018, and think this is the best for me.
I am an android user, so if you are an Apple person (my apologies), and don't have any friends to challenge you on fitbit, then go with the apple watch 3.

Bought 2 Ionic beginning of November 2017.
Mine never sync and have great difficulties to connect with my phone (Motorola G4 + / Android 7.0) even after factory resetting the Ionic (loosing the activities in the same time)
As it is my first experience with Fitbit, I am very disappointed and now shopping for a reliable alternative from another brand.
The Ionic I offered to my wife is working like a charm and sync smoothly all the time (Motorola G5 + / Android 7.0) .
So here is 50/50, one works and the other is going to be either returned to Amazon or sold on Japan secondhand market.
As we are in Japan the other apps that may make this watch exciting (Starbucks, Pandora, Payment) are not available and making the Ionic nothing else that a sport watch which relay notification from a smart phone.

I like the concept of the watch but feel like the actual implementation is a problem. I'm keeping it (for now at least) on the hopes that bug fixes and improvements will be forthcoming. I really, really want this thing to work. The bluetooth issues have got to be solveable through software fixes, and I really hope the app store takes off (if not in quantity, at least in quality). I like technology but I'm not a GOTTA HAVE IT gadget hoarder, I wouldn't have bought myself a smartwatch - this was a gift, but a well thought out one, as if I'd picked one myself this would have been it.
Good:
-Battery life
-Ties into the Fitbit universe, does the whole fitness/wellness thing very well
-Sleep cycle tracking
-Overall design of the hardware
Bad:
-Bluetooth synching issues
-"App store" feels like it's from 2004
-Bluetooth issues
-Would be nice to have a wider aftermarket for accessories (different bands, chargers, etc.)
-Did I mention the bluetooth issues?

Yes I am very happy with it.
For X-mas I wanted a new tracker, but wanted a 'smart tracker', switching from the Charge 2.
At first I want to go with the Gear S3, but I returned that right away. The battery life is terrible, so I went back to Fitbit and got the Ionic. I must say, I am very happy I did. The Ionic and the S3 are not even in the same ballpark, the Ionic wins that hand down.
I have some minor questions on how to set it up the way I want, and the Bluetooth connection could be a bit better, but I think I have the last one figured out to the point that it is very acceptable, but otherwise, the Ionic is a great watch.

Purchased an Ionic last night. Took about 30 minutes to get it setup and updated (no issues). Only thing I ran into was some failures when I was trying out new watch faces, but that seemed to be related to trying to switch to a new one too quickly, while a sync was going on in the background. So far, so good, but I haven't tried to put music on it yet.

I've had mine for about a week now and have been pretty happy with it. No issues whatsoever with updating the firmware/setup, syncing, setting up Fitbit Pay, transferring music files and setting up Bluetooth earbuds....everything worked exactly the way it should. In my experience so far the heart rate monitor isn't perfect but seems to be a bit faster at locking in the heart rate during weightraining than the Blaze and seems to be much better on the elliptical. The only thing is it seems a little laggy...swipes aren't as fast as they should be?

I wrote a post a couple weeks back about switching from the Apple Watch 2 to the Ionic and I was pleased. I actually purchased two.
I was getting notifications from my iPhone on mine (at first) and my wife was not. She also had issues syncing with hers (mine appeared ok).
After a couple weeks, mine also started having notifications not come through, which was a bit of a pain.
Unfortunately, we decided to send them back. For over $600 they just ended up not functioning to the level of the price after giving them an honest shake for a couple of weeks.
It will probably never happen, but I wish they would allow a subscription to their software that works with the Apple Watch. Their software is the glue, and eventually Apple will perfect theirs. If Fitbit is smart, they know this and will open a SAAS model.
I wish all ionic owners the best. Hopefully, Fitbit gets this updated and working properly.

24 hour review. I'm pleased so far with the Ionic I've purchased. This is the first Smartwatch I've owned, but like many of us I've had a variety of personal digital devices in my life over the decades.
Grumbles:
The information on setup and configuration supplied with the retail package is woefully deficient. It is about enough to get the device powered up and connected to App installed on your phone, tablet or PC but that is about it. The fact that greater detail can be found on the net is great, but I rather like having physical instructions for new toys.
Grins:
1. I like the GPS mapping on a walk or run. I did a bit of exploring on today's test walk with the device. While not pinpoint in agreement with map on the app, it was pretty darn close for gadget that is strapped to one's wrist. I can't wait to test this on known & unknown routes up in the hills.
2. Changing the watch face is very nice (remember, first Smartwatch). I've picked the retro-digital look of the 1970s since I thought it was cool back when it was first introduced and well, now I I think it makes an amusing if trite comment on modern technology.
3. Real time information on heart rate. This is why I bought the device (The Device? I think I like that better) in the first place. I've had other heart rate monitors in the past, always of the type that used a strap around the chest. Which frankly is not a good design for me. The strap tends to migrate down due to innate shape of my torso; most annoying. With The Device however it stays in place on my dominant forearm (aside from one short interval today) and is unnoticeable aside from my constant checking of status driven by the novelty of The Device.
4. Music play back. This is a nice bonus that sealed the deal for me. I've been using my iPhone for aural distractions/pace setting while on my daily walk. The earbuds supplied are adequate for the task and generally work well along side my hearing aids. The chance to leave the phone at home was quite the allure. Although the process to transfer an iTunes playlist took a minor bit of research, once the settings were done the transfer took place with out a hiccup.
4.a. Fitbit Flyer - In for a penny, in for a pound. Since there is no physical earbud jack on the Ionic, picking these up on a gamble seamed to be the logical choice. One that has proven to be prudent and correct, although not without its own irritations. The range on these is great to my impaired ears, I've heard tones and layered background tracks in my music of choice that I have not heard in years if ever. It IS irritating that the supplied changeable Si buds are just too large for my ears. I guess I'm an outlier when it comes to size of the ear canal. I have ordered a foam material based aftermarket alternative. Foam hearing protectors were never a problem for me, but I did have to mash them down pretty small and be quick about insertion to get them to work.
5. Alarm and Sleep. Another bonus from my stand point. I set an alarm 0-Dark Thirty the first day, to see if it would wake me from sleep. It did. Looked at the dark sky and went back to sleep for another two hours. Which the The Device dutifully tracked and logged for me. Said log confirmed my issues remaining asleep early in the night. As well as noting the few minutes I was awake from the alarm.
Summary: I quite like The Device so far. It logs my pulse over time, walking pace, cumulative elevation gain, distance traveled & time thereof. Makes a decent wrist watch due to its modest customization options. Is an easily portable music playback gizmo. Durability is still a question of course. I would like to see a Slow Watch face for The Device, or maybe the YES Solunar design.

@SunsetRunner No, I started the topic and like many other topics, no traction.... When you think there have been 24000 Android devices released since 2012 what hope have Fitbit got to keep up
I'm a successful ionic user.. The odd timing problem on syncing but that was over a week ago.
