Anyone happy with their Ionic?

Is anyone happy with their Ionic? Is yours fully working and syncing? It seems most discussions here are about the problems, but looking at different stores online the reviews are still mostly positive. I can't tell if the one I have is just never going to work or it's a firmware issue that could be fixed. Right now I'm leaning towards this one is never going to work, but then I'm not sure if I should get a new one or not.

I love mine. Had a couple of small issues at first with heart rate and hourly activity matching between app and ionic, but used chat on my desktop and the support person helped straighten me out.

I love mines as well, not had any problems, maybe some issues in setting up some of the apps, like stave, but managed to get it working

Not happy, that Fitbit wallet for the uk banks isn't functioning yet, hopefully in around 2 months time we might get a proper update, and date for the uk banks fitbit wallet

But for the time being, have been in contact with trading standard to see, if the ionic could be classed as not fit for purpose under the uk consumer act

Main reason I bought the ionic was for the contactless function, but if it didn't appear in 6 months time, and the price started to reduce, I would be pretty annoyed; but don't think anything will come out of this

I'm happy but I do not love mine, marriage is certainly not on the cards.

I couldn't be happier with mine; zero setup issues and it synchs properly all of the time; the only noted issues so far are as follows:

  • Of my 17 GPS tracked runs so far, the GPS has only muffed one of the runs when it lost a lock on the satellites while I was in dense woods on a rural trail
  • Sleep Stages is pretty whacky; it has only presented me with a Sleep Stages report 5 nights out of the last 23.
  • There seems to be a heart rate spike when starting a run, this issue has been reported by numerous folks.  In my case it isn't unusual to see my heart rate rocket from ~50 bpm to 210 bpm within the first few hundred yards of a run, and then to settle down into 110-140 range (depending upon how fast I'm going) for the remainder of the run.

So, like I said in my opening sentence, given I have what is effectively a Mark One, Mod Zero Ionic, I couldn't be happier with how it performs.  🙂

I like mine, it just has a few syncing issues which seems to be with my phone and not the device itself.

You are right, the problem I had was already discussed and I tried everything in those threads to no avail. That's why I was trying to find out if it's just a problem with some Ionics or all of them.

I could barely even get it setup. The setup process would always "fail" on the firmware update despite the fact that the firmware update was proceeding just fine on the watch. I tried the setup on my phone (Galaxy S7 on Android 7.0 with the latest update pushed by Verizon), my iPad, and two Windows 10 PCs, one with a BT dongle and the other with is integrated. I had my Surge paired with my phone before, but I removed all traces of that before starting. I never had my Surge paired with any other device. The setup would always fail while the firmware was downloading or installing.

So after several attempts of going through the whole setup process from a factory reset, I tried setting it up from the point after having the firmware already updated. I tried this on all my devices, but mostly with my phone because that's the device I really care to have it paired with.

You know the part where you enter the 4 digits displayed on the watch into the app? I would do that and then the app would just spin it's wheels trying to pair and eventually I'd have to try again with a new code, assuming my phone could even find the Ionic in the first place.

I tried different combinations of restarting the watch, turning off and on bluetooth on my phone, restarting my phone, clearing the app cache, clearing the app cache and data and signing back into the app, clearing the app cache and data and uninstalling and reinstalling the app, doing all that and restarting the phone and reinstalling the app, restarting the watch, restarting BT on my phone.. just over and over.

On what I told myself would be my last attempt, it actually paired. I immediately turned off all day sync. Always Connected was off and I left it off. I was able to change the watch face, and I configured the weather app. I thought I finally had it working. I opened the app every now and then to make sure it would sync. Then I watched some netflix and forgot about the watch. After about 2 hours of that I tried to sync it again but it would not sync. First I tried everything I could without unpairing the watch. Could not get it to sync. Then I tried everything short of another factory reset, and couldn't get it to pair again. I don't think I can get myself to try yet another factory reset knowing how long it takes to update the firmware, just to see if I can pair the watch again.

If you think I'd have the same issues with a replacement Ionic then maybe I'll just stick with my Surge. There's nothing wrong with my Surge, I just liked what the Ionic had to offer, and I'm not interested in a full on smart watch like the Apple Watch.

I returned my first Ionic a while ago and got a new one today from Amazon. While the setup process felt like it took forever, it actually worked without a single issue. The first watch was a hair-pulling experience to setup. I was able to change the watch face and configure the weather without any issues either. I don't know if it's the hardware or an app update that gets the credit, but my experience with my new Ionic is sooo much better! Notifications are working.. syncing is working... so far I am quite happy with this one. Hopefully in 2-3 hours it's still working like this and won't fizz out like the first one.

Had the Blaze and got the Ionic. Love it.  Fitbit pay works, Starbucks card works (those are the two things I used my phone for the most).  The screen is easier to see / read.  Notifications work.  Looks much nicer.  Absolutely love this thing.

I’m pretty upset over my ionic.  First I bought it brand new (so I was told off of eBay).  It came in unopened box and set up was fairly easy.  I even was able download 150 songs on it and sync with my wireless studio beats.  I had my phone exactly 15 days.  Then it was going dead in just a few hrs even with all of the notifications off.  I had a hr charge 2 and never ever had a problem with it.  I had an Apple Watch series 2 and sold it to buy the ionic.  Well I did the online thing with Fitbit.  They basically accused me on not holding down the correct 2 buttons and there are only 3 to begin with!  I was on the computer with 7 different agents in 6 full hrs!  They wanted me to video holding the buttons down for the right amount of time? Like hello.... I save lives for a living! Pretty sure I can mash 2 buttons down, and again why would I lie!  The watch would cut off.  Eventually I could get it back on.  Then it would freeze up again.  They told me to always charge in computer and not with regular Apple chargers.  Once my watch was restored to factory settings it would not stay connected to Bluetooth or my WiFi.  The seller off eBay wanted Fitbit to fix.  But I didn’t buy this from Fitbit who I no longer trust!  How

dare them play around 6 hrs and not offer to allow me to send back into them!  15 days old!  The seller did reluctantly agree for a refund.  I still want another one.  Best Buy says only a 14 day return.  I don’t believe a word Fitbit says.  And also after I made their foolish videos I couldn’t even send them because even at only 13 seconds it said the file was too big from my iPhone to their address they wanted it sent too.  If Walmart allows a 90 day return then I likely will buy another one.  Fitbit should do a better job!  I blame them as much as I blame the fact that I bought a supposedly New Ionic on eBay.

I'm not happy at all the syncing issues are unacceptable and Fitbit couldn't care less as long as they have your money. For £300/$300 it's an expensive piece of rubbish if you ask me definitely the last time I buy a Fitbit again they release watches without properly tested them very amateurish.

I have a Blaze and a Ionic. Until the recent update I couldn't say the Ionic was much better than the Blaze (apart GPS and waterproof features). Recent update changed it all.

The Ionic is indeed really good, zero sync issue with my Pixel, excellent battery life (4-5 days without any problem) and beautiful display (many people asked me about it because attracted by the display).

The AppStore starts to have nice apps (MySwimPro, World clock and Flashlight are my most used) and some of the watchfaces are excellent (TrekV4FB and CDF Digital Classic are my favorite) and things look bright for the future.

My big regret is that I can't use some of the functions (Fitbit Pay, Pandora and Starbucks card) because I live in Japan and honestly I'm not sure I will ever use them here.

Still there are so many other functions I would like to see implemented but I'm very positive.

Well I’m trying to give Fitbit the benefit of the doubt. I mean I bought the other one off of eBay for 239.00 USD. It did appear to be new packaging but idk, maybe it was just a faulty watch. I did buy a brand new one, but different color tonite directly from Fitbit. I even paid the extra 20 bucks to have it overnighted. They did tell me that it should only be charged on a slow charge in a computer usb. I was using regular Apple chargers. I had an Apple Watch and hated it. If u want stay in touch and I will let u know if the second one was indeed worth it.

Hello

I have the Fitbit 1 and now have sitting in the box a Ionic but for you all that have one are you glad you have it or wish you had not bothered with it due to price tag or problems

Literally had mine a few hours so this is first impressions......

WOW really does not look like such a high price item! That said if it works well that won't be an issue, time will tell.

So far I've had to hard reset to install new watchfaces twice which doesn't bode well (the cinematic one just will not load). Heart rate seems accurate so far. Screen is nice and clear.

It arrived with the large strap installed which promptly dropped off at both ends. The small one fitted fine but was, well, too small! After much fiddling the large seems to be secure now but I'm not convinced it won't fall off in the future 😕

So to sum it up so far, it's a 5 out of 10 but I'm hoping that will rise with use. I will update in a few days 👍

If you had asked yesterday I would say I was happy, but now mines not functioning properly, it turns itself in and doesn't reboot or restore. Currently just doesn't work.

i hope it's just a rogue device but weird it took two months to play up

Sorry to hear that. Hoping mine doesn't go the same way but I must admit I'm not confident.

I received mine earlier this week, and so far I am very happy.  Prior to this device, I had an Apple Watch (series 1 and 2) and used a Charge HR.

I was sick sick of wearing two devices, as the Apple Watch just doesn’t have the software for health that Fitbit does.  I’m all in with Apple - MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, X.  I just couldn’t utilize the Watch for data that Fitbit provides.

My Ionic is going on four days without a charge and still has 33% left.  To me, that’s amazing.  Four to five days of continuous heart rate and sleep tracking without needing to charge.

Just like any new product, I am sure there will be issues.  I’m just hoping Fitbit continues to update and improve this product, as I saw an article this weekend that apple is looking to add EKG to their watch.

It is a guess, but I would say Fitbit has a huge lead on Apple with the data - can they maintain it?  Getting that SPo2 sensor going for sleep apnea will be huge.

I also think that Fitbit would do well in mimicking the “badge” strategy around holidays like Apple does with their Watch.

If Fitbit can continue to rapidly improve their software and provide benefits to users, they can stay ahead of Apple.

I really like the Ionic and sing its praises to folks that notice it.

I am unhappy with mine. All of the previous ones were fine but this one has had too many problems- not syncing, now not charging.

I love mine now, I had a few syncing issues in the beginning, but since the last firmware update, they seem to be much better.

I'm happy with mine. I don't have any problems with it anymore. I don't use all the features because some of them don't work for me like adding music to the watch but I kinda use it as I did my Blaze and it works great. It was a waste of money as I already had a Blaze but I'll just roll with it.
