Auto-tracked walks not showing distance

I take at least two long dog walks a day. I let the Ionic auto-track (I don't explicitly start the exercise). I usually have phone with me. It doesn't show me distance. Why not?

Hello @RonicaBoulder and welcome to the Help forums.  I never found an explanation for this, but I have an opinion.  The app lets me recategorize any auto-tracked exercise.  If I changed a walk to bike, the app couldn't come up with a distance.  And many of us have experienced the auto-tracking getting the exercise wrong.  Those walks don't give you the distance in the exercise details, but your steps and that distance do get added to your daily total.
