Battery life and lack of dnd mode

Over the last few week I've had to charge my fitbit ionic almost daily. I put it on the charger and monitor it to ensure I'm not over charging it, just in case that's a thing. Anyhow, I haven't changed any of my normal day to day activities. I pretty much sleep, get up, go to work, come home rinse repeat. Last month I actually did more daily and I got roughly 4 days battery out of it. I guess if I'm more active then the battery will last longer? (sarcasm) So this is concerning anyhow because it's not that old. I believe I got it mid April.

Another thing that frustrates me is the missing do not disturb function. This feature, I think, would make the battery last days longer. Reason for? Well I sleep on average 8 hours a night and I move quite a bit. I have woken up to the watch display on numerous times and I've had my partner complain of the brightness when the screen flicks on when it's pitch black in the room. Now I know you can turn the screen off and on manually, however this is a stupid feature when cheaper watch makers have a do not disturb functions through their apps and or watch. I would love to have the ability to set the screen to automatically disable from, say 11pm-7am daily and it just magically does it on its own. Like George Foremen, set it and forget it. Anyways, looking for help, advice and if a hammer is the right tool...

I was a Polar user for many years, mainly because of it being waterproof and the incredible battery life. When Fitbit came out with the Ionic, it had everything I wanted so I switched. I bought the watch in December of 2018 and I've LOVED it up until 2 weeks ago when the battery problem started. I was late for work one morning because my Ionic alarm didn't wake me up. I thought that was strange but when I went to check my watch, it was 100% dead. I went to bed the night before and the battery was about 38% (mind you, I put it in MANUAL mode when I sleep). I charged it to 100% that morning and wrote off the experience as a fluke, glitch or a bug. Well, by noon the watch was dead again! The battery was draining from 100% to 0% in a matter of hours. I called Fitbit and they had me turn off the GPS and a few other things but to no avail. The battery was shot. The techs at Fitbit were able to see just how quickly my battery drained (hello big brother) and they sent me a replacement. I googled this issue and it turns out to be a problem with the Ionic. Happy about getting the replacement but very disappointed and now leary of the performance/durability

@Sensfan16 DND has always been on the Ionic.

Hold in the left button to bring up the quick settings menu. Both notifications and quick view may be disabled.

Under the standard settings we have the option to auto turn off notifications when the Ionic detects that the user is asleep.

Rich,

I think OP is referring to a setting that makes the DND automatic...instead of toggling Screen Wake back and forth between Auto/Manual in the morning and at night every day.
