Benchmark sleep v. Recommend

I see that for my age, I’m within benchmarks for the various sleep cycles. Question is... is this the correct way to assess “success”? Are these “benchmarks” only what others are achieving or are they recommended stage times for a healthy lifestyle?

I'm certainly no expert in the sleep field, but I have never seen any  "recommendations" for sleep stages, so I'm guessing Fitbit went with averages for benchmark as the best they could do.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Welcome to the Forums @Sleepy8. Hello @JohnnyRow.

In this case the benchmark is an average of other users with similar demographics to yours. It doesn't necessarily mean it is a recommendation as to what would be 100% ideal but you could see it as an idea of what others are sleeping and how.

Hope this clarifies the situation. Let me know if you have any further questions.
