Brand new Ionic not taking measurements

Hi all

I have an Ionic that is brand new and doesn't seem to count any steps or heart rate. Is there something I need to be doing?

Have you setup the ionic and attached it to your account?

Thanks for the reply.  Amazon sent me a replacement last night which I've just setup and works fine. The first one never even showed any lights on the back, new one flashed green as soon as update was completed.
