Hi,
Has anyone had the need to question the accuracy of the calorie count on their Ionic?
Over the last three days, I've had the following reported:
Day 1 7K+ steps 2500 cals
Day 2 3K+ steps 2200 cals
Day 3 8K+ steps 3600 cals
Now, the first thing that seems wrong is between days 1 & 2. How can doing twice as many steps only increase the calories by a smallish amount?
Compare that to my wifes tracker (not fitbit) where it is reporting 23K+ steps 1800 cals!!
The second thing is between days 1 and 3, there is only a difference of 1k steps however there is over 1k calories difference.
I'm not a particuarly active person, I don't go to the gym and I only do perhaps 'moderate' exercise in that I walk quite a bit. But when you look at my wife who does on average of 23k steps per day and then goes to the gym, that is an active person and to see that her calories are half that of mine, something seems wrong...

The difference between 1 and 2 might seem more significant if you subtract out the BMR (basal metabolic rate) calories that you are burning all the time. These usually account for more than half the calories burned in a day.
See How does Fitbit estimate how many calories I've burned?
