I got my ionic on Thursday, pre ordered specifically because of the music storage option. Struggled with numerous issues to get it to sync and then I get the error message, DRM encrypted file, can't transfer.
can somebody please tell me exactly what kind of music I can transfer in the uk, tried to download the pandora app but it says it isn't available in the uk? Please help it's driving me crazy!!

Streaming music services use encrypted files, because that’s what the music industry requires. Pandora is the only streaming service on the Ionic, and as you found out not available in UK.
You can put your own non-DRM encrypted mp3 music on the Ionic.

So will it work if I buy some music via the iTunes Store? Presumably these files won't be encrypted? Thanks

Yes, that *should* work but i haven’t tried it. iTunes has been selling drm-free music for years. Someone with an Ionic should try it, I believe iTunes files are mp4/AAC and I think that format is supported by Ionic. Not 100% sure.

Have you had any success in figuring this out? I too am a subscriber to Apple Music and I am getting the same error message as you. As in they are not transferring over which is a total bummer. When I looked at their files they are in AAC format so just curious if you've had any luck.

Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, etc are streaming services and the files are protected as required by the music industry.

If you want move Apple Music playlist to Fitbit, you need remove DRM protection of Apple Music, you can only play Apple Music in Fitbit without DRM protection, and you can convert Apple Music to MP3 at the same time, then import converted Apple Music to Fitbit to play it without limitation.
