Can I update Ionic using my school's Wi-Fi?

I just got a fitbit Ionic and I'm trying to update it using an LG phone.

Since I live at school, the fitbit wont connect to the wifi properly (I looked and apparently it can't connect to some types of wifi and also to any public wifi with a password). I have left it trying to update using bluetooth overnight (About 10 Hours) and it didn't even get halfway done with the update (Unfortunately I had to interrupt the update to go to class).

Does anyone have any ideas of how I can update it faster?

@WrenTronic Welcome to the Community. Thanks for the detailed information shared.

I appreciate that you mentioned you live at the school and that you're using an LG phone.

In this case, you may want to update your Ionic over Bluetooth because your Ionic needs to be connected to the Wi-Fi network in order to complete the process. However, Your Fitbit watch can connect to open, WEP, WPA personal, and WPA2 personal Wi-Fi networks. Your watch won’t connect to 5GHz, 802.11ac, WPA enterprise, or public Wi-Fi networks that require logins, subscriptions, or profiles.

Learn more about it by checking this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

As a side note, I've shared your post with our Support team and they've mentioned you already have a case with them, please continue the communication through email, they will continue assisting you.
