Can Spotify on Ionic not connect to Fitbit Flyer?

I can play music from Deezer on my Ionic through my Fitbit Flyer earphones but I can't play music from Spotify on my Ionic through my Fitbit Flyer earphones. It's not even an option to connect to Fitbit Flyer from Spotify on my Ionic. Why is this? Can it be resolved?

@CeeJayT   I am going out on a limb here.  I don't use Spotify, but I searched the Help articles and found this one.   Spotify is a Connect and Control, doesn't transfer playlists, and can control Spotify on different devices.  Try connecting your Flyer to you phone.  You phone is playing the music, right?
