Can't adjust music volume with AirPods...

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I transferred music to my Ionic and successfully paired it to my AirPods but the volume is fixed at a medium volume and can't be adjusted with the Ionic's volume buttons. Anybody have this problem with their bluetooth headphones?

Does it still work cause I at firmware pass that...32.4.14 and volume not working dor airpods

It no longer works for me.  I don’t understand the issue, but I would appreciate knowing if it’s a technical thing and never going to work.

Its frustrating not getting any clear answers.  Obviously Fitbit is adding new features based on their recent press releases.  Perhaps it’s an Apple thing?

I’m still having this problem with my husband’s ionic. He has the latest update but he still can’t adjust the volume for his AirPods I’ve even unpaired them and then repaired. And I’ve reset the ionic. None of this has fixed the issue. What else can I do?? It seems ridiculous that the volume buttons do nothing ...

I still have the same issue with my Rolfstone Earpods. The volume is at max, very frustrating. The updates doesn't help a bit. And the only feedback from Fitbit are the usual "reset'' solutions.

Frustrating! Got the new update, but volume control doesn't work at my fitbit ionic watch (paired with Airpods)... Pairing works perfectly within couple of seconds, however volume control??

Tried everything, pair/unpaired/pair again, restart, pair with phone first (volume control works perfectly), pair again with my airpods the volume hasn't changed...

Another update perhaps final the solution? Anyone else?

I'm having the same issue.  My Ionic's and Airpods' firmware are both up to date, but I'm still unable to change the volume.  I've tried pairing and unpairing and restarting the Ionic, still nothing.  This is unbelievably frustrating.

It has been working fine for me since the few last updates for pairing and controlling volume of Apple Airpods via Ionic, firmare version 32.4.19.

@DNCC

Did you do anything special? Like deleting ionic then again installation or something?

Cause with new update and same version you have, I'm still having same problem..

Best Answer

I cannot confirm this, but it seems like the latest firmware releases, so, 27.xx.xxx.xx and newer, might have broken the volume control.

Best Answer

Don’t think I did anything special but check if your Apple firmware is updated , and it doesn’t hurt to delete pairing , reconnect and restart your ionic.

Already checked the firmware of the Airpods and they're on the latest release.  According to customer support, this has been a thing recently and they're actively looking into it.  Hopefully it will be addressed soon.

Agreed.  At first I was able to hear my music but it was incredibly loud and I could't change the volume.  I then re-paired my Airpods with my phone, set the volume really low, and then re-paried the Airpods with my Ionic and I was able to hear my music at a more reasonable volume but again with no ability to adjust it.  Then something changed (firmware?) and now I can't hear my music at all.  When I raised a ticket with Ionic they couldn't give me an estimated timeframe for fixing this - not even something months out - so I really don't know if/when this will be fixed.

So far the issue is still, I would like to know how long Fitbit Engineers needs to resolve the issue

where is the volume control on watch?

@SantiR Here is another thread talking about the same issue. Why doesn't the Ionic control the volume of the Airpods? Everything is up to date.

I have tried restarting the watch. unsyncing, and resyncing the Airpods multiple times to the Ionic but no luck. One of the main reasons I went with the Ionic for my fitness watch was to have music w/o my phone. I might as well just carry my phone and not worry about the Ionic anymore.

Is FitBit actually looking to fix this? It seems to have been an issue for quite some time now and should be a basic function of the technology.

Volume controls still do nothing. I can't even use my insanely expensive air pods because the volume is so insanely loud.

Yes, I already reported the issue, awaiting for a solution from Fitbit

I get the same problem when I pair my earbuds to my LG TV and other non-apple products. Volume control doesn't work on them. Seems to be some crazy unconventional non-standard Apple thing that's the problem here, not so much Fitbit.

@lausus Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for reporting that you are also experiencing this inconvenience. Please try the steps above. Note that Fitbit is aware of this already.

@NRP28 Thanks for reporting the issue!

@AndrewBeato It's great to see you in the Fitbit forums! Thanks for sharing your experience on this thread regarding the Apple AirPods.

That is very interesting information. For what you are saying, it looks like there is some kind of incompatibility issue from Apple's side. Still, this is not confirmed, but will let you know once I get any updates on this.
