Can't listen to music/books on iPhone when Ionic paired with Beats.

One of the main reasons I upgraded from the Blaze to the Ionic was the latter's ability to hold music. It's been really cool to not have carry my phone on runs or make sure I don't get too far away from it during my weight training sessions.

That said, it's not been cool at all to not be able to switch from listening to the music on the Ionic to my iPhone (or any other app that has sound). It appears that if the Ionic is paired with my Beats, then it won't allow the iPhone in - so to speak. When I try to pair my iPhone with the Beats I get the 'make sure your Bluetooth device is powered on and in range' warning.

So, I have to turn my iPhone's BT off, "unpair" the Ionic from the Beats, turn the phone's BT back on, pair it with the Beats, and then I can listen to what's on my phone.

Anyone else having this issue? IS it even an issue?

Hey there @redraider08, it's great to see you around the forums! Robot Very Happy  If you previously listened to music stored on Ionic, you must manually change the source from the watch to your phone.

Then try again to control music playing on your phone:

  1. On your watch, press and hold the top button to open the music controls.
  2. Tap Device in the bottom left.
  3. Tap Phone to change the source.

  4. Press the left button twice to return to the track listing. On this screen, you can play or pause the track or skip to the next track depending on the app.

If you see "Music unselected" on your watch's screen, first make sure that music or audio is playing on the phone paired to Ionic. It's possible that the app you're using to play music or audio doesn't support the AVRCP Bluetooth profile, which is required to control music using Ionic. Apps that are compatible with this feature include:

  • Amazon Music
  • Apple Music
  • LG Music app
  • Rdio
  • Spotify
  • Pandora
  • Play Music
  • Samsung music app

Next, if Ionic is paired to an Android or Windows phone, turn on Bluetooth Classic on the watch to control music on your phone. Open the Settings app on your watch > Bluetooth > Bluetooth Classic > Pair.

Give this a shot and let me know the outcome!
